Esram appear to be gone from the xbox one scorpio. However you ll still be required to optimise for esram for games because the xbox one/slim will be required to run the same games as the scorpio (this is gonna make optimising games for the scorpio harder imo, because it ll be differnt from whats required of the normal xbox one).
"xbox scorpio offers a 4.5x performance boost in graphical complilation over the xbox one"
1.3 tflops x4.5 = 5.85 or about 6 tflops.
It upscales games to 4k, via "sparace rendering" & half resolution.
Half resolution (for 4k):
This means a game that runs (not native) 4k (for everything), will be useing a microsoft technique to reach 4k resolutions (like sony does with checkerboarding). Parts of the game (elements with in the frame buffer like shadows, transparences, ambient occlusions, lighting, can render at lower resolutions).
Sparce rendering (for 4k):
Microsofts version of checkerboarding. DF says the technique is essentially identical. Microsoft refers to same tech demonstration merk cerny used to showcase checkerboarding last year.
Its a slightly more demanding version of Sony checkerboarding. Its main draw will be instead of 1800p thanks to checkerboarding, it ll instead be a 2160p reach due to it.
"this might suggest that the scorpio isnt the "true" 4k console, that microsoft marketed it as" - digital foundry.
Theres more in the video.
