Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III still have a way to go, says Tetsuya Nomura

The numbering for this series is utterly ridiculous. A side-effect of KHIII never releasing I'm guessing.

Those are all collections, instead of making one, they made 3... 'cause why make Kingdom Hearts 3 if you can release 3 collections of already done stuff, instead?

Those are PSP games? I only follow the mainline games so I know only KHI AND KHII. (KHI is the best one btw)

I love how people complains ff15 was shit and needed more time but wants Nomura to rush this now, or others wanting Tabata to pick this up lol, you want another butchered game dont you ?

I hope they take their time with ff 7 remake , release it when its ready.

I think that for FFVII:R, people thought it would be a shame to miss the 20th anniversary window but knowing SE, I never really thought they could pull it off in 2017.

So back in the PS2 days I beat KH1 and made it like halfway thru KH2 and haven't really followed the series since.. is there some sort of guide as to what games I would need to play and in what order to catch up with the series?

If I play/watch everything in the 1.5+2.5 collection, and then 2.8, is that everything I need to be ready for KH3?

It's pretty ironic considering that it only took a year to develop the original FFVII, yet it's taking them over 3 years for just one part of it.

Man, this guy has absolutely no time management skills at all.

I dont think thats the problem. The problem is Square wanting to announce a game which will still take 3 or 4 years to release.

When the last game he worked on took 10 years to make, only because he was replaced, he's the problem. When KH3 is a sequel to a Gen 6 game, and it "still has a way to go" more than 3 years into the 8th generation, he's the problem. Terrible time management and prioritization.

Why announce these things when they're far off from being done?.. For dem delicious hype moments?

ff7 not hitting its 20th in 2017 is going to be the biggest lost marketing moment in gaming.

Maybe they can shoot for the 30th lol.

So you want them to rush things just to hit a cool date? I could care less about the date or if it releases on the anniversary just to be cool, a shame will be them releasing a game with problems just because they had to hit a date.

Never said that was what I wanted. I was merely providing you with the reasoning for some people wanting a 2017 date.

Hardly.First because we dont know why Versus never saw the day of light(as it was originally envisioned) as that could be due to a multitude of reasons, as Square not wanting to go on with a project with XIII on it, money restrains at the time, and so on.Not to mention that, in my book, it was Tabata that made the mess that FF XV was, and incomplete in the state it was.So if you prefer that other than taking the time to finish the game, be my guest.

And Nomura only had this "release in time" issues recently.he has been director to many games earlier, and none of them had this problem until now(All KH games, Dissidia, and a couple more that Im sure he worked on).

So what is the problem?First, square is announcing the games way too early.Hell, when KH III and FF 7 R were announced, they were barely in productions, if they were at that stage at all.Games of that size take years to make, and when you announce:"Hey, we are starting making them now!", its obviosly going to take 3, 4 years to release them.

And the second problem is that Square is overtaxing him.For gods sake, he is the director(or was at least, if you count the time when he was helming FF XV) of three massive different games!Of course that will take its toll. And thats not including projects where he is the designer, such as the new Dissidia. The guy is spread thin.Square need to find new talents so that he can focus on less games, and so can release its games on time.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

No the original FFVII took 3 years to make.  Planning sessions began in 1994 after FFVI was released and the game was released 3 years later in 1997.
