Forums - Gaming - Sony's PS4 Pro Sales Silence is an Ominous Sign for Scorpio?

As we know, the PS4 has been selling very well, but why has Sony not disclosed the breakdown of PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro sales?  I paid $340 for my Pro for a 1TB HDD and extra power, and it's been worth it.  But has the PS4 Pro been selling so poorly that Sony is too afraid to share the numbers?  And if the Pro has been selling poorly, what does this say about the upcoming Scorpio?  According to specs on paper, the Scoprio will in theory be more capable than the Pro.  But it's hard for me to phantom that potentially poor sales of the Pro was due to the wait of the Scorpio as a major factor.  Or maybe Sony is just taking a "none of your business" approach to throw the competition off.  Whatever it is, I'd like to hear the breakdown.

i dont think sony ever had an intent on splitting the sales. its the same machine.
I'm sure the PS4 Pro is doing pretty well tbh

2018 Hit List: Shadow of the Colossus, Detroit, Dreams, Spider-Man, God Of War, Days Gone, Medievil, Tomb Raider 3, RDR2

The Pro was never intended to launch with mainstream appeal. Anyone expecting millions of sales at launch was deluded. It's likely meeting Sony's expectations.

fact is: The PS4 Pro seems to be sold out in many, many countries. America, UK, Germany, france.. many stores have no PS4 Pro. I think exact sales figures will be called later. In my opinion: If the PS4 Pro is available again, it makes more sense to call exact sales figures :)

As usual, Microsoft will not name any sales figures, I think.

"ominous sign" no.
"sign of whats too come for scoripo?" probably.

Not everyone gets the high-end console that needs 4k before it really shows.
The same will be true for the Xbox Scorpio.
When it launches, it ll be a small amount of units sold. compaired to the Xbox One Slim.

Just as is the case with the PS4pro.
People that hail the Scorpio as some savoir of the xbox, are dreaming.

It ll launch at 499$ and sales will be slow, after its launch.

I think the ps4 pro is not selling out of the ordinary, which means great sales as usual (like the ps4) but not something like the hot toy of the moment. Maybe that's why you don't see that sony is throwing numbers out there, cause it's business as usual.

Honestly with the bundles that the slim was getting, the ps4 pro would obviously not sell as well as the Slim. But I doubt it has been selling poorly. Maybe it hasn't exceeded their expectations but I doubt it is beneath their expectations.

Some of the bundles were like, $250 for Slim + 2-3 games or $400 for Ps4 Pro with no games? If I didn't care about performance/graphics, I know which one I would choose.

The pro is nowhere close to being sold out in America. Dont know about other countries but it's avaiable every where here. I've already seen a couple at pawn shops.

Being sold out will hardly translate to poor sales... and I don't think Sony wants to break down the number publically, perhaps at most announce some milestones.

UK is pretty low, you can get one on Ebay though at a very high price. The slims aren't selling.
