Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One is pretty solid

NATO said:

I bought one at launch but ever since Microsoft decided to bring all the exclusives over to PC and insure all future exclusives come to PC too, I've not had much of a reason to turn the thing on.

Pretty sure this time next year all I will ever use will be PS4/PC/Switch, as the Xbox one has basically rendered itself redundant, and in that exact same manner, owning a gaming PC makes Scorpio rundundant too, and the thing isn't even out yet.

I started last gen an Xbox fan, shunned the PS3 early on in its life but by the end of last gen I liked both, so I bought both this gen and found that because multiplats almost always performed better on the PS4 that my only real use for the Xbox one, was the exclusives, backwards compatibility never mattered because I still own the last gen consoles.

The exclusives on PC thing , for me, basically kills the only reason to even own an Xbox one, since buying the games on PC is cheaper, and playing them online is cheaper too.

It's essentially just a branded steambox at this point that's handicapped to a limited library over normal steamboxes.

Halo dont will come to the pc

I think all of the current gen devices are solid.

The Wii U?

Yep, it has its issues but overall I have had a blast with it.

The PC has Halo 1 and Halo 2.

It also has Halo: Spartan Assault and a Halo game that isn't on any console. Halo: Spartan Strike.

It is also getting a port of Halo Wars and Halo Wars 2.

Halo 5's Forge mode is also on PC.

There was also Halo Online in development for PC, that sadly got cancelled...

Of course The Xbox One also has the ability to do "Remote Play" on PC, thus you can play every single Halo Game on PC, technically.

Xbox 360 emulation efforts are also rapidly progressing, thus Halo Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 4, Halo ODST, Halo Reach will make an appearance once day as well, just a matter of when.

halo1 and 2 on pc flopped
halo wars is a rts
and phil said that they only bring xbox exclusives to pc if it makes sense(play anywhere)
horizon 3 and gears 4 are great examples but halo 5 makes no sense because of mouse vs. controller or every pc player has to play with a controller

It is solid, indeed. You can probably bludgeon someone to death with it.

It feels like the games have "shifted".  The xbox 360 games are on the xb1, and the xb1 games are on the PC.

I have seen several times now people mentioning they are getting an xb1 for the BC.  They make no mention of the actual XB1 games, they just want to play xbox 360 games on it.

I would like to see what happens if they enable 360 BC on the PC.

Well, you can do that by streaming you Xbox One on your PC tho.

Almost there, right?

Eh, not quite the same, especially for a PC person.

Halo 5 being on PC could defy logical concerns (though, I can't imagine what), but that is hardly one of them. Gears 4 PC players use kb + m just fine (and did so when they opened the servers for public versus for a weekend). The whole idea that it is "unfair" is quickly being reconsidered.

lets not forget too that the majority of pc titles are setup to use xbox 360/xbox one controllers out of the box, and the majority of players on pc these days actually use gamepads to play rather than keyboard and mouse

Ya...but to me it doesn't matter since I have a Gaming Pc, and the exclusives like Gears of War that are on PC have a very small and terribly supported community(In other words I buy the console version) and games like Halo are exclusive to Xbox. So yea......

Clearly 60fps does matter to you. - Otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned it to begin with.
As for Resolution, the Xbox One doesn't achieve 1080P across every title either, plus Scorpio should do 4k better than the Playstation 4 Pro... And even if you have a 720P TV, there is benefit to running a game at 4k.

Exclusives and the PC wasn't even in the original points you (Or I) made, so that's just goal-post shifting and I shall ignore it.

What? I wasn't saying I didn't care about frames, I meant that the games I play on Xbox are basically only on Xbox and thus the 60fps offered doesn't give much wiggle room. You mentioned third party games but I don't buy those on Xbox, so what would be the point of upgrading to the Scorpio for 60fps Battlefield or some other third party? Even if the exclusives weren't always 60 frames(something that's unlikely do to the resolution scaling), those are what...2 games lol. I'm not upgrading for that.

now get Sunset Overdrive

so in versus matches you can choose to play with or without pc players and because of >>that<< it is no problem, in the horde mode of GoW 4  we all can play together and its no problem too! the same for racers....

but if there are playing 1st person shooters and you have some people playing controllers and others with mouse+kb then there is a problem because of the aiming im good with controllers and a mid gamer with mouse+kb but my aiming is better with mouse+ kb......
