Forums - Gaming - Why do Sonic games sell so poorly in Japan?

Sonic was a Japanese made character, that was created to appeal to the Western audience. AZWification said: Sonic is too badass for Japan, he's on to something there. Japanese game developers also didn't like how Sega US was attacking Mario unfairly, and attacking any other franchise wasn't really something that was practiced in Japan. So I think it's because Sonic's history is so American that it never caught on there. I mean of course people have different gameplay tastes but yeah, that's my 2 cents.

Why are you talking about sales?!

Fine, i see you want to beat around the bush.

No, a portable is a tasty proposition but not tastier than a good home console. Therefore no, the japanese don't necessarely have better tastes. Its subjective.

So you are saying that they are buying those consoles because they are zombies and have no taste in gaming?

Okay then, we can end the discussion here since that is what you believe.

I bolded it for you. Not that it matters.

because the gameplay is not that good.
