Forums - Sony - How bad actually are The Last Guardian's controls/camera?

I have yet to play it.

But I'd like to hear some (hopefully) unbiased opinions. I know the camera and controls have gotten a TON of heat. And some funny videos/memes have come of it.

I still find myself rooting for this game. In an age of fast paced action shooters, RPG's, and yearly sports games; I appreciate new types of games releasing even if they aren't perfect or don't live up to the hype.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

They're not. At all. People just exaggerate. The game was in development for 10 years so any little thing that's not perfect = its the worst ever.

Not great. But not at all game-breaking.

Okay maybe they exaggerate but the framerate on the OG Ps4 is horrible right? which is what's preventing me to buy the game, I really hope the fix the problems with a patch otherwise i'm going to have to buy the Pro and i don't like that.

Yes, it has framerate drops. Its not stable and very noticeable.  I do not own a Ps Pro but my understanding is that its locked at 30fps on that console.

Depends on your definition of horrible. It runs better than sotc did on ps2 and has no problems indoors. It only gets in the way if you try to play it like a fast paced tps while using the camera to steer. The game works better if you think your moves out first instead of running and jumping into everything. And don't fight the camera, let it do its thing.

The controls are different from the standard action game, it takes a little bit of learning to get used to. After that they're very capable to get you everywhere fast.

It's not. I've had frame rate drops on pro too (1080p mode), although pretty rare, while the base ps4 drops everytime you go outside. Perhaps ps5 will get a 60fps remaster for the whole trilogy.
