I agree i have still to play a game this year that is better than UC4 it's an amazing game .. but maybe FFXV and The Last Guardian will change that.

Shit.

I looked at 2016 releases. There are some good games that couldn't get me to part with my money. Overwatch, Forza Horizon 3, Titanfall 2. And there are some games I've really enjoyed like Inside, Gears 4, and Telltale Batman-- but absolutely NOTHING I've actually played screams GotY material. 2016 may be the worst year of gaming I've ever experienced. Most of my titles are Remasters and rereleases!

And I guess Uncharted 4 wins the title be default. Wow.

Why did you felt it played by itself? For me it was a lot more free than previous UC games (and driving in open world was a loss for me since I don't like open world =´[ ) Since you are giving it by default the GOTY I'm happy for the nomination, but sad for the reason.

The vehicle parts were good. The story was simple but the characters were good. The gunplay was VERY good. There was just too many moments of platforming that required no skill. No way to fail. Moments that look exhilarating and dangerous but really, they aren't. I'm sure the online was good but I've never tried it.

When I think of "Game of the Year", I think of a game that's a classic. I'll return to it time and again. I don't see myself doing that with Uncharted 4 or really any 2016 game. The exceptions are so flawed, I can't give them that title, either. For what it's worth, Uncharted 4 is really polished and detailed. Naughty Dog put a hell of a lot of effort into making it something special.

For me this year was a year of dissapointing sequels.
Mirrors Edge Catalyst, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Mafia 3, Dishonored 2 were all really dissapointing.

Dead Rising 4 looks like it could be a dissapointing sequel as well.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was a good sequel and a good game overall, but not amazing  in my opion.

From the games I played this year: Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Division, Uncharted 4, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Mafia 3, it's Uncharted 4 that is my personal GOTY.

Waiting for FFXV and The Last Guardian though.

I'm not into Souls games but Dark Souls 3 was a great sequel and DOOM was fantastic as well.

Have you already beaten Dishonored 2 and Deus Ex? Both games were amazing. Not sure how strict your gaming taste is.

Mafia and Mirror's Edge were a bit dissapointing.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

I feel like dark souls or FF XV or world of FF deserve it more. An underdog candidate would be pokemon sun and moon

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Great game, that's for sure. My personal GOTY is Risee of the Tomb Raider. I have the games high in my top list this year, but I prefer ROTR gameplay, platforming and exploration, so...
I still have to play Owlboy and Deus Ex, which are games which can probably fight for that spot. It might be the first year that spot is a not-Nintendo game, now that I think about it. Still, it could change next week with Pokemon.

...wasn't RoTR last year? I don't think getting a port to a new console puts it in the running for this year...

O/T: Uncharted 4 was...massively underwhelming for me, though for what it's worth, this entire year has been pretty underwhelming. Most of the sequels I was looking forward to felt like a step back from their predecessors (Fire Emblem, Ace Attorney, Deus Ex, X-Com). I'd probably give it to Dark Souls 3, or perhaps even the fan made Metroid game, AM2R.

Hoping for Dishonored 2 to come through.

So far I'd probably give my GOTY to Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, as I found it to be a very enjoyable JRPG. It had great, lovable characters, great presentation and music, and an excellent battle system that really feels like you're part of a concert, and no party member is left out in a fight. It def breathed new life into the genre, and was just a joy to play.

Uncharted 4's my GotY so far, but I don't love it nearly as much as you. It's actually my least favourite of the 4 main games. It's mainly my GotY because of the lack of new games I've played. The only other 2016 releases I've played are Mirror's Edge, Mafia III, which both disappointed, NHL 17 and DOOM. I'm only a few levels into DOOM right now, and it's been pretty good, so it could surpass Uncharted. FF XV's the only upcoming release that has a chance of beating it

I have to play DS3, TLG and FFXV to say, but it is my GOTY so far.

Already forgot about that game. Yeah it was pretty great.

Chaining attacks was amazing. I think I did a 13 chain one? It was a huge chain, followed by special attack which lead to another huge chain.

The most surprising part? It was a Wii U exclusive. Absolutely a hidden gem.

Yeah, I absolutely loved the chaining part. It was so cool to see everyone jump in for a hit, sometimes even triggering a duet attack also, which lead to an even longer string of attacks xD I think my highest was 18? Though, by the end battles would take such a long time to finish.

I disagree.

The game has poor pacing, a long-drawn out story that could've ended much sooner, and a (failed) attempt at trying to making the game more open world IMO. I think Uncharted 4 went a bit too far away from what made UC2 great, a fun, linear, action-packed, lighthearted summer-action-movie-like flick. They tried too hard to pull influences from TLOU (another game I have platnum for) in this, which IMO ruined it.

I have platinum trophies for UC2 and UC3, but I haven't even completed my first playthrough of UC4 yet (bought the game at launch).
