If you're not talking about your name/role I'm not sure what you'd have to hide. My general stance is that if you have an important read on someone it ought to get out there before the Day ends, on account of the town may need to know it and you may not live to tell them. But I concede that there are exceptions where you'd play it close, perhaps trying to give someone more rope to hang them on.

Why was it instilled in me my first maybe dozen games that giving away a role is bad business, but all of a sudden the last few games people are pushing for it day one, day two, etc.
Lets say everyone is telling the truth about having a role who has come forward or hinted so far. You are just putting a target on your head for scum. Sure you are also helping possible get us on yourside and giving the doc and other roles targets as well. But not only does it put a target on you, it gives people a chance to plan against you and set up scenarios where your lying.
I also agree that it is nice to give us a heads up so we feel better about someone, and that is done by hints. You either catch those hints or you do not.
If you guys see these hints how about you just not draw attention to it. We have 3-4 people who have outed their roles now.
@drunkmax
You actually have to have big balls to just blindly go into night one with possibly taking three town players out. When you post that I assume you said it because of my last post. So you obviously did not drink yourself blind when you saw it.
Now I am going to get flak for this, I kind of have a Prof, Darwin, Mr.P vibe.
Prof does not have Darwin on his vote list yet has talked about him for half the game. Basically leading him along the whole game. Your buddying, your possibly posting from dead threads, etc. Yet he has such strong convictions on him that he ...does nothing.
Then we have Mr. P, First he has a highly imaginative role, then prof basically goes right along with it and only goes onto "Get townie points" and say a few points about him. Mr. P is quick to jump on the prof train as well just because he agrees with him.
So that is what day one does for you linkz. Everyone all over the place. Look at the votals, we have half on a no lynch, half on a Mr. P and others just all over the place.

That is what I would consider good personal info or good advice. Everythingremoved is either bad advice, unnecessary exaggeration, or completely fabricated/hypocritical.
Posts like this confuse people in thinking poorly. Most people don't actually go back and read what someone says happened. I do. Linkz does. A couple others too. But mainly, people can't be arsed to verify everything someone says. That noise becomes part of the rhetoric. It's poor play, it's intentionally misleading, and it's all done to give himself a meta cover.
To explain, he plays this way so that when he's scum, we don't know the difference between him having bad motives or just being spurge.
Additionally I don't like one bit that he waited until a couple hours before day is over to post any content, especially content that I set him up with.
I'm looking for townie points? Remember when I said, "I can't believe nobody is on my case for defending mrp"? Look who is trying for those delicious towniepoints now.
