You were dying to the basic mobs? 
Just dig down and get some random metals and make some armor/weapon so you can easily kill them.
You'll get to a point where you'll reset the whole world and stronger mobs will become the basic mobs, then things get hard again and you'll see your equips that where working wonder on them becoming junk, lol, then go there again and get better metals, but the best stuff will demand you to beat the bosses, so you'll always be having a hard time trying to get stronger, which is pretty nice.

I've also heard about these things from my friend who played a lot of it, and it does sound exciting. It was why I wanted to play it in the 1st place, though the 1st time playing was rough on me, haha. When I can get a better computer, I'll give it another shot : D
