The transfer process is unfortunately not what I expected. DF says you have to connect both to a router, not directly together via LAN cable. Since I can't move the tv to the router, I guess I'll have to take the (faster) back up route.

My question is, does backing up ps4 content to an external HDD leave the existing contents on that drive alone? Will it back up to a separate directory I can delete later?

vonnecting both to a router is just an option. and not even as fast as conneting them directly to eachother.

Ah perhaps I misunderstood

Alternatively, hook up both consoles to your router via LAN cables and the entirety of your drive contents can be beamed across to the Pro. (but be warned, this may actually take longer than the drive back-up option)

Maybe DF didn't try a direct connection in their haste to get a review out.

The PS5 Exists.

I'm excited, the only thing I'm not excited about is re-downloading 1.3 TB of data again. I wish I could just swap the HD and just be over with it.

I'm a tad disappointed that UC4 is running at 1440p with standard up-scaling, given we've already seen other titles like Horizon surpassing that quite effortlessly. From what DF said, it sounds like ND ran into some issues. I'm curious as to what those issues were.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how things develop between launch, and when i pick up a Pro next year. I'm currently looking at April, but if Horizon is received well (both technically and in general), i might buy one along with that at the end of February.

Use your PSVita to use as extra screen, use a small tv or memorize the commands (or go from a tutorial and emulate)

I can use PSVR if needed, backup would just be easier (and is apparently faster)
Yet I don't want to get my drive wiped (just over 1Tb of contents on it, 950GB free)

Edit: Guess I'll have to mess about with PSVR, extension cords and LAN cables, my backup drive is NTFS. ps4 only supports FAT32 and exFAT. Although I still have an old router I could use I guess. Better not be any restrictions on what router works!

Sony wouldn't want to make your life easier

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

This really disappoints me, I hate loud consoles, why didn't they spring for a bigger fan?

"In terms of the acoustic performance of the Pro, it has much more in common with the c-chassis PS4 than the Slim. We were hoping that the larger console may integrate a larger fan - typically, the larger fan, the slower it needs to spin in order to displace the same amount of heat. We've yet to put the Pro through exhaustive tests here, but we note a peak 55dB during inFamous First Light gameplay, The fan spins up and down and is clearly audible from across the room."

Yet some also say its the quietest playstation 4 ever made.

Cause the only reason for anyone to get a ps4 pro over the regular ps4 is graphics? I mean in Canada, for $375, you can get a ps4 slim, uncharted, call of duty IW and another game where as if you want to get a ps4 pro, it is $500 with nothing else. So those of us who wants to get a ps4 need to know how much better the pro because we are spending a lot of money for the console alone. And if the upgrades aren't worth it, may as well just get the slim model.

Yeah, makes me wonder if this is a case of the lottery effect with consoles.

Or maybe DF just worked their console a lot harder than anyone typically evee would. ich wouldmt be surprusing conaidering what kinda "reviews" they do.

Am i thr only one that doesmt xare about how a console sounds? Especially considerring that i dont even hear it when im actually using it. Or maybe it's because I typically use a split unit AC which has its own loud constant him all day everyday. Now that's what I call loud.
