I don't think people quite realise how big this is for Sony. MS released the original XB because they feared Sony taking over the livingroom (Peter Moore's words, not mine) and here we are with Sony threatening to take over the livingroom:

Crazy to think they focused on games when they launched the ps4 but it turns out they are the one who are taking the TV side of things the most seriously.

I know what it is for Sony, though it won't be taking over the world like some die hards want it to (which would mean less choice overall in terms of competition).

I think it's more like M$ created Xbox because they were afraid of thr living room taking over the desk, and Sony ruling the living room. That ship has sailed, though. Playstation was a red herring. Google and Apple struck thw major blows via mobile.

Still, PSVue is looking like a good deal, and services like this may actually extend the life of live TV for a while, but it's still basically Cable, and I think were gonna find that on demand streaming will continue to take it's toll as more and more channels release their own separate subscription services for people who no longer want to deal with 15mins of ads in their 40min tv show.

Sony are sneaking this into people's homes while everyone else is looking the other way (consoles).

Why haven't Microsoft set up a rival to ps Vue?  

I'd think Vue is using the Gaikai infrastructure and I doubt it's something you can put together easily especially when Gaikai will have patents and Sony bought Onlive patents too. At the moment I think Sony have the market cornered.

This thread doesn't make any sense. This is not Sony threatening to take over the living room. It's a step into PC space. Which is an uncomfortable place to watch TV.
