Forums - Sony - Robinson - The Journey VR quick impression

So I just got my copy of Robinson - The Journey today from bestbuy, and man.. it's a graphically impressive VR experience.  It's amazing how beautiful the world is.. definitely one of the better looking PSVR launch title.  Unfortunately, I couldn't play much more than about 30 mins because enabling the "smooth" movement option (annoyed at that pie type turning) got me feeling really nauseous.  This game affected me as bad as "Here they lie".  Will tinker around with much longer next play through to get a better impression of gameplay and story .  Will update this thread then.  So far, excited that I got the game so early and for only $17.

Quick impression:

1.  DINOSAURS!!  The world and dinos actually are pretty impressive graphically.  Some jaggies when looking at Pterodactyls in the sky, but it's no biggie.  THe environment is pretty gorgeous.. and to think this game is technicaly a "launch" title.  Can't wait to see how much better this game could like on the ps4 pro.

2.  Got this game almost a week early and for only $17!!  Thank you bestbuy, gamer club, and reward certificates.

3.  THere are like 3 movement options.. something like 1/4 pie, 1/2 pie, and smooth.  "Smooth" works well with the right trigger controlling the turning, but got to move slowly.. that quick spin can cause motion sickness.

4.  Wish this game was Move enabled.  Seems perfect for it.. but of course, would have to come up with something for moving and turning.  Your tool looks  like a Move controller.

Will update as soon as the motion sickness calms down and I try it again.

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

I'm jealous! My local store never breaks street dates.

I'm glad it has smooth motion, step wise turning is a turn off for me while motion sickness hasn't been a problem.
Man up and keep playing :p

bought it online at bestbuy.. preordered 4 days ago when I saw bestbuy had a release date of 11/2. I thought it might of been a mistake but placed the order anyways. Got an email yesterday that the game shipped and was in the mail when I got home. will give it another go later tonight to get a better feel of gameplay and story and then update..

Any other updates?

so, the gameplay is a mixed bag.. graphically.. still very nice. Movement and control wise, I'd still wish we could use the move controllers instead (heard support was coming soon for Move). The world really pops.. great immersion.. Once you're out of the "safe" zone is when the game starts picking up. Lots of interaction.. Dino moments are great! Some puzzles aren't the most obvious. Found myself wondering sometimes before I accidentally stumbled upon what I need to do to move forward. Haven't completed the game just yet.. still experiencing bouts of nausea during playthrough. Sucks, cus i own and can play through Rigs, EVE, Driveclub without much issue.. but dang this game gets my head and stomach churning. OUtside of that, story so far isn't all bad.. some moments are actually pretty cool. Honestly, at the price i picked up this game, the experience has been great thus far outside of the sickness.

FOr what it's worth.. any big Jurassic Park fan will love this game.. the immersion and interaction with the Dinos is just too awesome (i sometimes found myself stuck just playing with the Dinos..).  Outside of that.. depending on how much you paid for this game will determine if you felt this game was worth it.  for me, again, it was..
