Forums - Sony - PS4 Pro PSVR support (12 at launch)

https://gamerant.com/playstation-vr-pro-support-918/

PSVR is getting some love too on PS4 Pro. So far 7 games have been announced to get ps4 pro support.
- Eagle flight
- Eve: Valkyrie
- Bound (already looks stunning)
- Thumper (already looks amazing)
- Robinson: The journey (releases November 8)
- Farpoint (releases Januari 2017 rumor)

However it's unclear what those enhancements will be
Of the newly announced PS4 Pro PSVR titles, Bound‘s planning on providing 4K support for the game’s 2D Photo Mode as well as, “upscaled shading on textures.” In fact, it’s unclear as to whether the PS4 Pro improvements in Bound will be 2D exclusive or effect the PSVR version of the game in anyway. EVE: Valkyrie similarly has ambiguously stated that the team is, “optimizing the game for any PlayStation Pro features.” Perhaps improving PS4 Pro enhanced PSVR titles isn’t as straightforward as Sony has made seem.

The subset of psvr and ps4 pro owners is likely to be pretty small in the beginning. Hopefully devs will still optimize upcoming VR games for ps4 pro. Sony is asking them at least http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2016/10/21/sony-is-asking-psvr-games-developers-to-take-advantage-of-the-ps4-pro/ It would be nice if Sony makes a DC VR pro patch happen.

So fucking hyped to see Hitman there. I'll be buying that soon enough.

Okay. You're my "go to guy".

I got the PSVR on day one because I loved the idea of VR (and Sony delivered!). I figured the PS4 Pro would improve the experience so I preordered one. Then, I figured, as long as I was getting a Pro, I might as well get a 4K HDR ready TV.

I got a Sony Bravia yesterday. I already have the PSVR and I really don't want to ever disconnect it if I don't have to. The Pro arrives on November 10th.

Here's my question: from what I hear, you need an HDMI 2.0 cable to use HDR. I don't think the PSVR came with an HDMI 2.0 cable. Also, somebody said there's the possibility that the Pro can't even do HDR with the VR attached! Can you find some facts?

The cable doesn't matter. Those hdmi 2.0 cables are mostly a scam, normal hdmi cables work as well. Only for very long cables you'll need a high quality cable to combat signal degradation.

The problem is in the PSVR processing unit. That only has hdmi 1.4 ports and processing. It will switch the pro back to 1.4 output and thus you can't get a 4K picture to your tv that way. Cable swapping is your only option unless you buy a splitter. You'll need a hdmi 2.0a splitter or you'll still lose HDR, and those aren't cheap (yet) $163 https://www.pulse-eight.com/p/177/1x2-hdmi-20a-hdmi-20b-splitter-with-hdcp-22-support

I confirmed my pre-order for the pro as well today. Next Thursday I should be able to pick it up :) I'll get Robinson The journey at the same time. They're getting eagle flight in too, waiting for reviews for that one. I have no clue what the gameplay would be in that game.

Too rich for my blood. Guess I'm just going to have to disconnect every time. Thanks for the info!
