Maybe with a strong industry partner they can? People should just give it a try before instantly dooming it. |
Firstly, i am personally of the opinion that the console markwt is saturated as it is. I don't think it's even big enough for 3 players, which could be why what we actually have are two twins and one other platform.
If we all really think of what a console represents, and we look at them as thing you primarily plug into your tv at home, then why do we really need 3/4/5 different console manufacturers when 90% of all games are shared between them anyways?
Nintendos saving grace (any maybe also their flaw) is that they do they own thing. When we had the HD twins Nintendo did its own thing. Then we had the 1080p twins and again Nintendo did its thing. Now we are about to have the 4k twins and still they are doing their own thing, the second Nintendo starts doing what Sony and MS are doing they become irrelevant, or hey succeed and either Sony or MS becomes irrelevant.
Basically if this shit is hard for even Nintendo, it would be hard for anyone else. So in truth, Nvidia is doing the best they can do. Forget making your own platform, instead make the hardware that powers one of the big three. The switch has all the makins of what Nvidia has been doing with their shield devices for the past 2/3 years anyways. But as you said maybe they needed a partnership with a major player. well, thats exactly what this is.
I honestly just hope Nvidia doesmt stab Nintendo in the back or complicates things for them, Nvidia has done that every single time they partnered with anyone. They just don't make good partners for some strange reason.
