Red Faction Removed From Germany’s “List of Media Harmful to Young Persons” After 13 Years

THQ Nordic has announced via a press release that its 2001 title, Red Faction, has been removed from Germany’s “list of media harmful to young persons” thirteen years after the game was added to it.

“Numerous discussions, tact and some skillful powers of persuasion were required to achieve this result,” wrote the publisher who believes that this decision will have quite an impact in the future.

“We will, of course, still be nurturing our extensive games portfolio that now comprises over 350 titles, and will do our utmost to ensure that gamers can play our games in future,” said THQ Nordic’s Publishing Director Jans Binsmaier. “We were aware of the implications of this momentous decision, and needed to adopt a bold approach.”

The publisher’s Vienna arm now plans to hold “further discussions” with The Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons (BPjM). However, the nature of discussions have not yet been disclosed.

So what are the impacts of this? I mean, it`s 13 years too late for them to really sell it in Germany now so... what`s the point?

Red Faction HD Collection!

Exclusive to Germany.

Being a non-fps fan, I almost jumped on this franchise.  Some kind of HD collection would make it more tempting if that were to happen.
