Summer Lesson for PlayStation VR to release with English subtitles in Asia in early 2017

Can you play Summer Lesson in English? Not yet, but you can early next year with the Southeast Asian release.

The PlayStation VR-exclusive game Summer Lesson: Hikari Miyamoto will be released in Southeast Asia in early 2017 on the PlayStation Store and includes the original Japanese audio with English subtitles, Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia announced.

Unveiled in 2014, Summer Lesson is a project by Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada and his team and puts you in the shoes of a tutor helping a female student named Hikari Miyamoto improve her academic performance during seven days in summer. The game is currently available in Japan and was a PS VR launch title. Future planned content features other activities such as Hikari serving in a maid cafe, going jogging or seeing fireworks at a festival with her.

There is a second Summer Lesson already in English that debuted at E3 2015 as a playable tech demo where you teach Japanese to a young blonde American woman (funnily enough, you help Hikari with her English in the other game). There is no word on if this other version will be released, but I speculate it could, as the other one’s official title, “Summer Lesson: Hikari Miyamoto,” specifies the student’s name.
