Forums - Gaming - Would the Ps4 PRO have enough power for local multiplayer with two PSVR headsets?

I am tech knowledgible and local VR multiplayer..

... is possible ith Ps4 PRO. 10 28.57%

PS4 Pro doesn't have enough power, its not that much powerful over the PS4. It might for simple games but that would be redundant.

If something is not intended on console it's also not possible. That's the beauty of them. Freeing you from pesky choices and too many features that might confuse you.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

With 2 ps4 pro's system linked together perhaps.
One ps4 pro, no. CPU too slow, no dual hdmi out.

im voting no for 2 reasons

- 1) its still a mid-range GamePC build, altough its chepa in price and has good value for the consumer VR is still very demanding and it still uses a low-end CPU and a rather low amount of memory
- 2) no developer is proberbly interested in the minority that would use two headsets on one console

I do see there might be a way to do some sort of, one guy on the tv and one guy in VR cute interaction, but only time will tell.

VR local multiplayer. Just having one VR set is complicated enough (space in your room, cables, expensive tech...), but two seems like overkill. I don't think any studio is going to be interested in local multiplayer for the thing. It's also kind of redundant, if you're not going to see nor listen to each other in one room, why would you be in one anyway?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I don't think manny people would use this feature since the headset would be expensive to buy 2, but I'm interested in the idea.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

It is entirely possible.

It is however entirely unrealistic to expect it to happen at this stage.

The last time I checked the PS4, any PS4, will support only one PSVR headset. So your answer is no. The PS4 would need a second HDMI port for starting. Regarding the power.. maybe. But the PS4 Pro CPU would slow down things.

Bummer, I got excited over the whole "secret sauce" thing. Maybe two processing units used instead of renderint to the TV.....dammit, it would be cool

The second screen image comes through as a h.264 compressed stream like remote play, probably hitching a ride over the USB connection.
In theory they could frame pack two outputs in the hdmi stream but you'll need a different PU unit for that. I doubt they made the PU unit that flexible. Still rendering 4 960x1080 frames at 60fps would put a lot of strain on the cpu. PU multitap unit?

Anyway what would be the purpose of playing VR in the same room? Apart from sex games :) Kinda hard to kiss with those helmets on though, but she could be doing Nathan Drake while you're doing Aloy ;)
