Forums - Gaming - PSVR is heavier than Rift and Vive, but has the best ergonomics

I think it's the band. It's plastic instead of fabric and it's weighted at the back to balance out the headset.

Edit: I'm very jelous that you own a Vive. It's awesome and I didn't find it uncomfortable when I used it.

Ah yeah a counterbalance can definitely be worth the additional weight. I really want to see the PSVR's library... hopefully there's a few AAA games in development, as there's really not many yet available. There's still some pretty cool games on Steam though, and with mods it can be used in existing games like Fallout 4/Skyrim/Alien Isolation/GTA V fairly well.

Hopefully more developers start taking it upon themselves to patch in VR modes for their games going forward... I know Bethesda is doing that for fallout 4 already.

I've heard that so far Bethesda hasn't been doing a great job of implementing VR into their games. I'm honestly okay with giving developers the time to learn how to make games properly in VR before they start trying to make AAA VR games. Though, Alien Isolation seems like a no brainer for VR.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

All of this sounds headache inducing.

I'm someone who gets car sick easily if I start reading or playing a game, but I've not gotten sick or had a headache from the Vive yet. This gen of VR headsets seems a lot better than the previous ones in that regard.

Neh, just like with the PC VR setups, I will be waiting for revision 2 before considering buying one. I shall fap on my Gear VR till then

well, revision 2 will only happen if version 1 is atleast a decent success though

Thats true. But if Revision 1 isn't a success, it is due to the companies failing to give me a good enough reason to buy their product so... If there isn't a revision 2, it won't really affect me.

it'd affect you in the sense that you are (or claim to be) interested in high(er) quality (than is available) VR, which will be significantly delayed if this years VR headsets flop

Yea but I am not so interested that VR is a must have thing for me so I can certainly wait, specially since I have my Gear VR atm for only $100. A high end VR headset costs somewhere between $450 (PSVR since it requires the eye to make it work) to $800 (Vive). That is a pretty big investment and in all honesty, if there is no Revision 2, I might have dodged a bullet. There will always be new ways to get immersed even if VR flops.

yea, fair point

personally I only tried cardboard on my smartphone and hopefully I'll be able to try one Rift/Vive or PSVR soon to see how much of difference there is

I mainly say that because I get headaches from cramped muskles in my back and neck on a regular basis anyways. (Yay creative jobs!) Putting weight and pressure on my head doesn't seem the best way to combat that! :P

The Vive sounds like it strains your neck muscles, because of the weight sitting in front of your eyes, but the idea of strapping yourself into a tight headband that would put pressure on your forehead and temples (something I get headaches from easily as well) , with sonys VR headet doesn't sound very appealing either.
