Forums - Gaming - Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 Pro vs PC 4K VIDEO ANALYSIS DF

View on YouTube

Good analysis. Also confirms that the PS4pro isnt using textures of the quality you would find in a PC ultra/very high setting. It's also shows a number of areas where stuff was completely removed probably to increase performance or stability. And first evidence of what kinda artifacts we could expect with the checkerboard rendering method the PS4pro uses.

Keep in mind this is still pre release software though and not indicative of final performance.

Turns out 1080p is not 4k.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Be me. No 4k or HDR monitor to view this footage on.

So basically I'm just watching light effects and try to determine which one looks the brightest lol

I really hope each and every new game has max details 1080p option on PS4 Pro, like RoTR. Too many compromises have to be made in "4K" mode.

I think those compromises are all tied to the CPU. We need to see how the XB1s handles those scenes or if the scenew show exhibit the same cuts in the 1080p mode of the game. Lets not forget that the pro mode only gets a 500MB bump to available RAM, so I don't expect to suddenly be getting ultra level texture quality.

Errr... what? Are you really about to turn this into that? Can't this just be about seeing how good/bad the tech is? Smh.....

Does anyone know how much will it co$t to run 30 fps of Tomb Raider in 4k at very high?

RX 480 = ~25fps ($200-$320)

GTX 1070 = ~ 37fps ($429-$480)

GTX 1080 = ~ 46fps ($670-$720)

Mind you, that's just for a GPU alone. 4k isn't cheap.

You would need a 980ti or 1070, to run this 4k and very high settings.

That means a 450$ graphics card.

You would still need all the other stuff, cpu,motherboard,ram,hhd,dvd/br drive, case, powerunit, cooling fan, mouse, keyboard, controller, windows.

By the end of it your most likely in the 1000-1500$ range, depending on how expensive you go on those "other than gpu stuff".

The end result is you end up with a better looking game than a console can do, but you pay more for it.

In DF's own words, "for the PS4 to come this close to a high-end PC is pretty impressive". 'Nuff said.

You didnt even watch the video did you?

DF says PS4Pro is pretty impressive, close to high end pc performance and a massive jump over 1080p.
