Forums - Gaming - Upcoming Games That Can "Potentially" Become One of Your Top 10 GOAT?

After watching gamexplain 2 hour analysis im convinced that zelda botw will be the goat.

Around the Network

Possibly Breath of the Wild. Otherwise, nothin' I know of.

Zelda Breath of the Wild and Kingdom Hearts III. I actually think those two games will enter in my top 3 of all time, I know we don't know much about KH3 to jump to this kind of conclusion, but it's just a hunch based on how much I like the series and the info known about the game. Persona 5 could enter my top 10 too.

I want to be real, so i will go with:

1. Zelda Breath of the Wild: After zelda all open world/sandbox will need an advanced physics engine and that level of interaction with the enviorement.. I am talking to you read dead redemption 2.
2. The new Mario NX. the true succesor of Galaxy games. Am i need to remember you how faboulous are those 2 games?
3. The Dark souls of this generation. After all dark souls 1 is the most close game to get that GOAT of this times.

About competition i think is a matter of history.

I dont put horizon because of the studio; when was the last time that guerrilla games made an excellent game.
I started killzone Shadowfall and left on the first hour.
Days gone IMHO looks so terrible generic, nevertheless media is hyping that game.
God of war went TLOU fusioned with RE4 i need to see how that works. Being TLOU and RE4 in my top 20

Oh man I don't know. Seems very unlikely the way this gen is going. A Link Between Worlds broke into the top 20 but I'd be shocked if something broke the top 10.

I guess I'll list the contenders in order of likelihood:

1) Breath of the Wild - Aonuma has done it again and again, and there are already four Zelda games in my top 20.

2) Super Mario next - after Zelda, Super Mario is the best and most consistent series.

3) The Last Guardian - Ico and SoTC are both in my top 50 so there's a decent chance here.

4) Freedom Planet 2 - the first game was surprisingly great; maybe the sequel will be even better.

5) Shakedown Hawaii - this sequel to Retro City Rampage could deliver the goods.

6) Monolith Soft's next game - Monolith made the only 7th gen game in my top 10.

7) Retro's next game - the studio has a perfect track record so far.

8) From Software's next game - since 2009 From has been knocking it out of the park.

9) Nioh - if Nioh can tap into what makes Demon's and Dark Souls special maybe we have something.

10) Mario Kart 9 - the 8th in the series was masterful so maybe the follow up can be too.

Breath of the Wild, Sonic Mania, and Kingdom Hearts III are the first to spring to my mind.

Horizon Zero Dawn, it has to...

It'll!

And if it doesn't, lets just say that Amsterdam is about 80 minutes by train for me ;)

Only the new Zelda and that's a long shot. With the NES,SNES and N64 generation behind us, nothing is likely to ever innovate and influence gaming like those games did.

Breath of the Wild is the only one I can see at the moment
