My PS3 isn't connected to the internet right now....it was before cause i had a router in my room and it worked fine...but then i got a DNS error message and have no idea what it means....so now i cannot go online with ps3...so yesterday i just wanted to play MLB 08:the show the franchise mode with my brother....but the game wouldn't boot up and it had an error message...so i looked online to see what the problem is and what i gathered is that i can't play it cause i don't have the newest system update (which i think is 2.2 and i have 2.1) anyone know what i can do about it? is this even the problem? i mean i find it a little ridiculous if that is the problem.

update ur ps3 via internet, which im guessing u cant do.

the otehr option is updating it using some sort of storage device like copying the update from internet to usb stick then to ur psp.

if u want to get ur ps3 back online, i would suggest opening up ports in ur router it workd 4 me.

i think you can download the update on your computer to an external storage device, then plug it up to your ps3 to update the version. but im not sure

Next time you get an error message of any kind, jot down the number (have writing equipment near where you game). Then type in PS3 and the error code in google and follow the instructions. Don't give up on PS3 online because of a remediable problem. MLB the show shines with online leagues. :)

EDIT: Go here, and download the update to a USB key, or PSP, or memory stick if you have a 60 gb or 80gb model.

Have any of the other computers on your network been affected? Maybe reentering all of your internet connection information (if you are wireless) could help or dicking around with some of your router settings. Otherwise, what Dogs Rule said is your best option.
