don't worry, the higher the mmr gets, the more hell changes, but it still is hell 

3k people is full of people aiming for better, but tilting at the sight of something wrong, also, they can't pick heroes even if you gave them an ultimate counter-pick/combo-pick guide

4k is full of people that think they know their shit, but don't, yet they are still arrogant about it

5k is full of people that know their shit, but are too mindlessly bickering all the time

worst was/is around 3.5k tho, they bring everything to the table the average 2.7k player brings to it, but they already have the arrogance of 4k players.

pick strategy to get out of 2.7? I've been seeing some success with picking tower pushers since the main way my team normally loses is when they don't take objectives.

Yep, learning how to draft and how to convince people for your drafts can be a really ez way to increase your mmr, since a lot of teams at that level seldomly pick synergetic heroes, also they can't deal with coordinated early push, since they will just hide under the tower to take a fight that never comes, or will never be in their favour. (hue, this is mutating into dota thread right now, but I also appreciate the regular bumps)
