The info on the og PS4 circa 2013 is atthentic.
The costs for the PS4s are estimstes based on changes we at least know have been made and the relative cost reductions on certain components over the past 3yrs. Like in the og PS4 there were 16 RAM modules making up the 8GB of RAM, that's long since been changed to 8 modules with improvements in RAM fabrication. And there are always improvements in manufacturing where multiple components get combined to save space and money....etc.
The costs on the PS4n are estimates mostly pulled outta my ass but for the most part are educated guesses. In some part based on information we have in relation to other components, or cost of other components on Amazon and potential costs in relation to og PS4 prices back in 2013.
As you can see, the PS4 always came in at under $399. Even if we add in shipping and a marketing overhead we would still be u see $399 and as such the console was always sold at a profit.
With the PS4s we can see that based on estimates of which I could be as much as 20% off; BOM is as low as $200. So worst case scenario we are looking at $240 assuming I'm 20% too low. This doesn't only lend credence to a $299 price point but could result in a very aggressive $249 price point.
As for the PS4n, that's pretty much just up in the air. Will Sony bite a $22 loss and sell it for $399? or would they go for max profits and sell it for $449/$499? My guess is that they will come in at $399. Which in a manner of speaking explains the recent price hike for PS+. This is also assuming we end up with a 4.2-5.0TF GPU'd console. If it's a 5.5 TF with more ram and a better cpu it's cost could jump from $422 to as much as $460.
So.. what do you all think? what are your own total estimates and what do you think the prices are going to be?
dont know whats up with the spacing. i tried. fixed..... i think. nope still nothing.
