Forums - Microsoft - Is This Misleading Marketing? (MS: GoW)

I said Pewdiepie or however you spell it was in the wrong because he hid his disclaimer in that same section, but this is different because why the heck would people believe an Xbox is running Gears 4 at 4K? Meanwhile, you don't expect streamers to have their positive impressions bought and paid for.

Plus, I thought everyone has a great PC to play these MS games on now and they killed the console brand like 4 times already? I think a vast majority of people understand an Xbone won't be running Gears 4 at 4K in 2016. Sure, you can point to some comments about people being mislead, but they are YouTube comments. Might as well start citing Metacritic user scores as valid opinions.

It ends with an advert for the XB1s. I wouldn't call that straws. It's misleading, as some of the comments are now showing.

I think he means that your "grasping at straws" ...

Nothing about that video was misleading since they didn't disclose that it was running on the X1S, what was at the end was just an advert ...

They didn't even imply that the game was running at 4K on the X1S in the video title ...

How people even got the misconception that the game was running at 4K on X1S was their own fault when the description had all of the answers while the video gave you none of that ...

That's the very ******* thing that makes it misleading. The non disclosure. Coupled with the advert at the end. For the same product in the video that is also available on the Xbox One platform. A video that is featured on the Xbox channel. To think it's somehow incidental could be construed a naive. Not by me though. Somebody else. That wants to be moderated.

Then Microsoft is also in the wrong since that defense doesn't work when you assume that people have automatic knowledge that the Xbox can't do AAA gaming at native 4K just like how people can defend an X youtuber because they automatically assume that everyone knows their doing paid promotions ...

Can't have it both ways ...

Wouldn't both be wrong for doing the same thing if you think one is wrong?

It's purely incidental, just like the false image of the "40% smaller" One S. Too many interns in MS marketing department, they don't realize at all when they publish something misleading...

Could also be a combination of double standards or hypocrisy ...

Going back a bit, there were the notorious bullshots from the original Gears. And the bullshots from Gears 2. And the obviously doctored footage from the Gears 1 TV spot. That's all I can remember. This game has quite the lineage when it comes to stretching the truth about it's tecnical prowess. Great series though. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one. Dabbled in Gears 2. Looked great. It doesn't need the duplicty to sell, but it's certainly gotten it over the years.

You are grasping at all the tiny straws you ca, it is a XBS Ad, the game shouldn't be running and be recorded on a Pc, because we all know that when people see a ad, they will be expecting the product to be the real deal with what you are being advertised into buying and if not, you are being tricked into making a Purchase based on misinformation or a misconception.

How does that logic seem to slip by you? It's not Rocketscience and no one here is a NASA Rocket scientist (Maybe, the chance is always there) but we don't need to be. A misconception and misinformation will always be misinformation and misconception, especially when it comes to things that will affect people's choices.

Yes it is misleading, advertising a game on the Xbox youtube channel, with an advert for the Xbox One at the end but not using footage from an Xbox is dodgy.

It'd be like them in a years time showing Scorpio footage of a game, then at the end of that video instead of advertising Scorpio, advertising the XBO S.

So, you want them to have, "Running on PC" right at the top or even in the video title? To find out it's running on PC only 1 click away... on the same page the video is on.

Yes. Like Sony does and did for most of its best looking games running on PS4 and PS3. "This footage was recorded in real-time on a standard PlayStation 4." - or something like that. I've seen it at the beginning of many videos. And don't worry, once the Scorpio will be out be sure MS will do the same with the footages recorded on it. That video is misleading the least.
