Forums - Gaming - Starbound 1.0 release July 22nd

Starbound has finally reached it's 1.0 stage and is releasing July 22nd (Today in the EU/Asia timezone).

It's been 3 long years since playing the game in it;s early acccess stage, I had some good fun here and there and decided to leave it until it;s completion which I am pretty excited to jump back into. THe amount of content the devs have thrown in since 2013 has risen over the years and only served to excite me right up to it's complete release.

I'll be making a thread about Starbound detailing what you can do, what the game has to offer as well as handing out 4 copies to those who throw in their say. I handed out some copies when Stardew Valley came out, I feel doing the same for Starbound will both give back to the devs as well as give some a free take on the game itself.

I'm just happy the game is finally completed and that I can finally get around to playing the whole thing. The devs have made it so you can play with friends via server ip, your own private server or via your friends list on Steam. You can drop in and out of cop-op with multiple friends at any time and even take on the story together as a group or by yourself or even just go around doing whatever you want.

I should also mention that the game at some point will be landing on consoles, though I don't know or see the estimated time it will land but it could be next year if not the year after. The Wiki also lends to it possibly appearing on the Vita as well as last gen systems.

Another important note is that the devs have stated that the price of the game will not change from it's release state, meaning the price will remain as it currently is (£11.99 if you live in the UK).

Soo hyyyped!!! I can't wait to play this! It's been soo long since I last have. I wonder how much more they have added since then! I hope they have a lot of different clothing options to find in the world! I want to find as many of them as possible!

...and explore all the different planets and fight the bosses of course.. xD

Also they managed to make it so we can inspect all sorts of objects and blocks that we can clone later on thanks to ye old 3D printing machine =D.

I've been watching Gaming by Gaslight over on Youtube for a few weeks now, his runs on the nightly builds give me a good idea of what we're in for, though he doesn't show us everything but that's okay since we'll discover more as time goes on. They also made multiple biomes a thing again as well as letting us know what resources can be found on a planet thanks to the ships navigation system.

If you like Pokemon you'll love being able to capture all sorts of monsters out in the wrld and having them fight for you as well as customize them with different colars that allow for visual looks and buffs. That and we can hire crew members to join us on our travels and even customize them (they even stat up with the armor we wear). Sometimes we can even get NPC's to aid us after doing a few quests for them.

Want to be a farmer?, well you can grow your own crops and have them space mailed to the outpost for sale as well as buy your own livestock, grow them and care for them. It's like Stardew Valley but in space now =P.

We can also have starter pets and monster ones: http://starbounder.org/Pets

Oh yeah, I've heard about some of those. There's also the fossil mini game bit I saw as well, and that looks kind of fun to do. Just another cool thing to look for while exploring new worlds. I also heard there's a new type of NPC race. I forgot their name, but they look kind of weird. I've been avoiding looking up more though, just so I can discover more on my own. Really excited to start tomorrow maybe

I will be playing later with my nephew. Definitely be testing if it has improved in the multiplayer department. Especially when it comes to connecting with others outside a dedicated third party server.

That is so 2013... People now wants No man´s Sky, similar games but one is 3D.

Played so much of it already, it was ok, needs to much grinding for my taste.

I'll take that as a joke?.

I mean both have been in the works for a number of years, even before SB entered early access it was being worked on before ea.

I've been playing it on and off since 2013, the grinding phases to me have been rahter minute,e specially when you upgrade your matter manipulator or buy/craft pickaxes in order to get what you want. NMS will have a grind phase too like other RPG/open world games with progression systems will have. Majority of MMO's for example feature grind phases.

Looking forward to seeing all the new content and giving this game another chunk of my life, it's been well over a year since I last played this.

I am glad i was able to entertain you with my "jokes".

So you weren't trying to entetain?, you just decided to come in and yawn?.

If it's sarcasm you should always know that it never translates well into text and "jokes" at times as well unless accompanied by a face or picture of some visual representation to show the difference.

Just to let you know as well that the game was in devlopement before NMS and well NMS borrows from other games as well. The only hip and trendy thing that's going on with that is the myterious marketing. Starbound doesn't get that console exclusive marketing luxury which is why I'm making it my job to talk about this game since it isn't getting exclusive marketing on television or web ads.

Also letting you know before this somehow explodes, don't explode. I'm just pointing out the difference from above, I know a few here like to explode and make things out of nothing until a mod shows up but I'm just making it crystal clear now that I was asking for certainty that you were trying to joke or be serious, This thread doesn't need to devolve into a pointless banter because of another game.
