That's my whole point. Nintendo needs some 3rd party games on their platform to test the water, If they can't get a Japanese company like Square on board, who can they?

Nintendo has to pick up the slack for their own platform by making it a big hit and then third parties won't so willingly ignore the NX like they did with the WII U ...
It's not a chicken and egg problem we're talking about here, it's the console manufacturerers own responsibility to provide games whether first or third party ...

I wouldn't look too much in that statement because NX still isn't revealed and it's still under strict NDA, people forgetting last year SQ basically announced 2 DQ games for NX but shortly after they pulled this statement most likely after Nintendo contacted them.
Wait first for NX reveal and finished NDA, than we can look in statements like this.

Actual SQ said they preparing 2 DQ games for NX but shortly after they pulled this statement after Nintendo contacted them, because NX still is under very strict NDA, and nobody can't say anything about NX until Nintendo said so, most likely until NX reveal. Fact that console will be launched in 8 months and only actual thing we know about console or platform is that will have new Zelda, proves that.

Ubisoft did, and we know it's going to get Just Dance. It's been announced. SOMEONE CONTACT NINTENDO, BREACH IN NDA!!!! Or they just aren't going to get 3rd party support.

So then what's the point of the Xbox One version then?
NX clearly is going to have a far, far greater foothold in Japan than Xbox One ever did. An NX re-release months later would undoubtedly bring attention back to the PS4 release. Good for sales all around.
With this game being in production for 10 damn years, I think concerns about incremental cost went out the window a long time ago.
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Yes, that is only one strange exception and actually quite surprise.
PS4 will get lions share of all Jspanese developers attention. NX doesn't have a chance given how Nintendo treated developers. It's good for Sony.
