You may be ok with that, but not all people are and you two are annoying some users on this thread right now; I wouldn't receive reports otherwise. This kind of speech you're holding, with words such as shitty, dumb, stupid, awful tends to make arguments escalate fast due to their depreciatory nature, making the other user feel isolated, humiliated and inclined to formulate a more violent response. Fortunately, he decided to stand down. Next time, do not engage if it infuriates you.

And yes, you're on the verge of violating rule #10: You have the right to express your opinion, as long as it is relevant, justified, and presented in a civil manner. The bolded is where you're at fault. You lacked civility while arguing with Mike.

I recall a certain mod saying to you: ''You can have the best argument in the world and still lose due to the presentation of your point.'' Does it ring any bell?

Again, it's not about what you think is okay to do, it's about what the rules tell you what is okay to do.

But I'm nice. I'm just arguing with you instead of blantantly moderating you. Now let's move on. Make your peace with Mike, if it isn't already done.

Arguments stand or fall on their own merit.  If the point stands, the point stands whether it's presented nicely or otherwise.  And I'm not really infuriated.  Annoyed maybe, but far from infuriated.  I like cursing when appropriate and I prefer blunt language.  Might cause me to come across as angrier than I actually am.

I asked you to correct me if I was wrong on the rules, and I stand corrected.  I was under the impression that it was ok to disparage arguments as long as you weren't actually criticizing the person.  That's also the impression I got from what typically goes on in threads.  If I was wrong on that, I'll try and be more careful on my wording in the future.

Glad to read this. Have a great day.

It's done. No hard feelings from me.

Thanks

It was nothing personal.  If you were offended, I'm sorry.

It's all good.

I'm sorry as well. It was never meant as anything personal

but you're still buying it so does it really matter in the end? Are the other two products doing anythng so much different from Sony. Ninty maybe but xbox? Especially this gen?

Thing is I'd be buying more if I felt Sony's products were more innovative and worthwhile.  I bought the PS2, PSP, and PS1 because all three had a very large library of third party games.  But, I didn't feel the need to buy a PS3 (well, actually I bought it and returned it), a Vita, or a PS4.  As for this generation, I don't have an XBone either, because I don't find their offering very inspired either.  If they announce Kingdom Hearts 3 for PC, I might not get either, unless VR or Hololens are really good and become more affordable.  Also, I only own like one piece of first party software from Sony (Shadow of the Colossus).

So it doesn't matter to me enough that I'll outright refuse to buy anything from them, but I'd probably buy a lot more if I found their products more innovative.

your tastes are your taste. If you game on PC then there really isnt that much of a need for anything else. I happen to like Sony first party and the games that dont make it to PC. to each his own.

Biggest issue I can think of involves the ps4. Make the damn controller easier to turn off. Takes two seconds on the PS3. A total pain in the ass on the ps4. The vita memory cards and lack of support also sucks. Other than that and ghostbusters.... Lol! I'm quite happy with Sony.

I forgot to add how they never supported the pstv. Doesn't even have Netflix. I mean wtf? My old ass Sony bluray player has Netflix.

- Letting Japan Studio go to shit.

- No backward compatibility

- If you only own a PS4, the PS Plus free games aren't that great

- Dropping multiple second party partner studios like a rock last gen.

Of course it's my taste.  But that's what this topic was about.

I am well acquainted with those words.  No introductions are needed.  And I am using them at my discretion.  According to my discretion, I did not use them.  There were much better words available.  Unsubstantiated and ridiculous are not synonyms.  Unsubstantiated means you simply have no evidence, but it may or may not be true.  Ridiculous means that your argument not only doesn't have evidence, but also defies the available evidence and/or common sense and therefore is deserving of ridicule.  In this case, the arguments were not just unsubstantiated, they were ridiculous.

Personally, I just don't have much tolerance for that kind of nonsense in this scenario.  It's a pet peeve when people respond to me with logical fallacies and absurd claims.  It's even more so a pet peeve when people repeatedly fail to justify themselves, ignore huge swaths of what I've said, pluck lines out of context, attack me instead of my arguments, and so on.  And that's how I respond to that sort of thing.  If that comes off as aggressive to certain people or rubs them the wrong way, then I'm ok with that.

At no point did I insult anyone personally.  I never called a person stupid, inane, vapid, etc.  I called an argument stupid, inane, vapid, etc.  I never disrespected anyone.  I certainly disrespected arguments that didn't deserve respect, but never a person.  As far as I know, you can correct me if I'm wrong, that does not in any way violate any rules.  If this is just a suggestion of yours, then I'm going to respectfully ignore it.  At work I have to excersise extreme patience, and not even hint at any kind of frustration, disapproval, etc, no matter how irrational someone is being.  It's nice to sometimes be able to call a spade a spade.

Surprised you didn't just lock the thread or place a ban.

Some had interesting things to say. And I don't think banning is always the solution, sometimes it's just best to work things out and apologize. From how it turned out, I made the right choice.

I’ll limit myself to the PlayStation unit of Sony and start with my biggest gripes:

Cinematic storytelling at the expense of gameplay. This is more aimed at Naughty Dog. They’re one of my favorite developers and that's why Uncharted 4 disappointed me. After having played The Last of Us that in my opinion had a perfect balance of gameplay and cutscenens, Uncharted 4 took control away too often and when it finally gave control back, the game still led you on. If God of War IV and Days Gone will take inspiration from Naughty Dog, I hope it’ll be from TLOU. I don’t want any of their future games to be as cinematic as Uncharted 4. I want them to tell more of the story through gameplay. Meaningful cutscenes are fine though. Even Wario Land had long cutscenes in the start of the game but still those games were some of my favorites on my GameBoy.

Japan Studio's lacking output. I know that Western games overtook Japanese in market share early in the 7th generation but I want Sony to strengthen their 1st party Japanese output now that they're back on track and stronger than ever. They're definitely improving with TLG, GR2 and GT Sport this year but I'm not happy before I get Ape Escape 4 and The Legend of Dragoon 2.

Too few family friendly 1st party games. I know I can’t blame Sony for the loss of Crash and Spyro (my favorite childhood PS mascots) as they never owned them in the first place and as they can’t force Activision to sell them but we need to see more of their 3D platformers return. Ratchet & Clank (2016) was great and it hopefully showed Sony that there’s still demand among PS fans.

No sustained AA and A 1st party support on Vita. I love my PS Vita and I don't think the quality of its library is that far from that of the Wii U which gets a lot of praise for its games. But still the support from Sony could’ve been far better. I completely understand why they lowered the budgets when expensive games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Killzone: Mercenary hardly moved any units and after smartphones and their "free" "games" invaded handheld gaming but they should've continued to develop/fund smaller AA and A games for it like Patapon, LocoRoco, Daxter, Ape Escape, Puppeteer, Knack and a port of Gran Turismo 6. Those games would've been faster and less expensive to develop and would've fitted the handheld medium a lot better than those home console look-alikes. No matter what the Vita would've probably never achieved the same success as the PSP but they could've bought a studio like Level-5 prior to Vita's launch. While not developing many AAA games Level-5 develops a bunch of great AA handheld games which is just what the Vita is missing.

Dark Cloud + Chronicle
Rogue Galaxy
Yo-Kai Watch
Danball Senki
Jeanne d'Arc
White Knight Chronicles
Ni no Kuni
Wonder Flick
Professor Layton
Inazuma Eleven
etc.

Regarding memory cards, they should've been far more affordable but it hasn't been a huge personal issue as I bought my 64GB memory card at nippon-yasan.

Smaller:

Poor rubber on DualShock 4's thumbsticks. The DS4 is my favorite controller but I really hope they make the rubber sticks more solid on the rumored upgraded DS4 launching alongside PS4 Neo.

No displaying of total time spent playing. I'd like to see if my favorite games are also the ones receiving the most play time.

No wishlisting and gifting in PS Store. I know there's wishlisting in the browser based PS Store but why not on the PS4? And why not let customers spend money gifting each other?

No movie (both buy and rent), TV series and music in PS Store outside of US/UK. Sony creates a ton of entertainment besides games. Why not sell it themselves? More content for customers and bigger profits for Sony. Sony's own services like Crackle, PS Vue, PS Movies and PS Now need to be available worldwide asap on both PS4 and Vita.

Personally, free online multiplayer is not important as I subscribed to PS+ long before PS4 launched due to the free games but I see why it could be a big issue for Nintendo and PC gamers who consider buying a PS4.

PS3 backwards compatibility is also not that important for me as I still have my PS3 plugged in and it probably wouldn’t be complete BC anyway with support for all of my 200+ PS3 games.

My only issue at the moment is that the matchmaking or Uncharted 4 ranked matches is the worst I've ever seen...

Basically these 2 posts sum up my issues with Sony.

Though, I don't quite see the problem with Naughty Dogs' cinematic games. Yes, Uncharted 4 was close to crossing the line but a game like The Last of Us has such a compelling story but at the same time excellent gameplay. Imo it just adds to the variety that not every game is "non-cinematic".

But speaking of The Last of Us. Its multiplayer is also very solid but matchmaking is shit. As Faelco said, UC4 matchmaking isn't that much better and I really don't get it. Why not spar with the good folks at Guerrilla Games? Matchmaking in Killzone: Shadow Fall is fantastic.
