A very good recovery indeed. I remember all the doom and gloom over the Ps4 sales in Japan 2014 when the baseline was 5k in the slower months.

2015 seen a 100% increase to 10k a week in the slower months and 2016 has seen another 100% increase to 20k a week in the slower months.

It's tracking close to the ps3 which at this stage last gen had blown them a shit load of money in Japan. Profitability wise the improvement to this gen is off the charts. And importantly a nice user base is growing that will support another healthy gen for PlayStation in Japan.

What is happening here lol.

I don't strongly disagree, but to suggest the Japan console market is in a good place and healthy for PlayStation is a bit of a stretch.

They haven't done very well at all. Especially with zero competition.

Since the subject wasn't about PS4's  success compared to the PS brand in previous gens, there is nothing to invalidate his opinion about how much better the PS4 is tracking compared to its start.

Do you believe the condition of the Japanese console market is due to smart phones?

It's certainly one of the reasons. Considering smartphone games total gross was nearly 4x higher than console games gross last year.

Bearing in mind that console games are $60 mostly and mobile games are free.

Do you have any data of the Average $ spent in Mobile Games per user ? The ones that pay something.

We can clearly assume userbase isn't everything
