Forums - Sony - Playstation 4 NEO Launching in 2016, good? Why?

Another big mistake?  They announced the S 2 months before it's release, but the only one available in August is the 2TB $399 model, which means the model that will appeal to the mainstream the most, the $299 500GB model, was announced 5-6 months before release.  It's very apparent MS isn't really concerned with beating, or even matching PS4 sales, now.  I think they are just getting out the S to lower production costs and the Scorpio to not only push Windows 10 gaming, but to also have their own VR solution.  If both fail to really change anything, I can definitely see them dropping HW to push more Windows SW.

I agree, they are releasing the premium One S model in August and as far as I'm concerned dont have a release date for the other models yet.  Maybe seeing interest first and foremost and hoping consumers buy the $399 model.

I'm not sure what MS are doing TBH.  But am I the only one who thinks they are losing money with every One S?  Yes they are cutting costs on manufacturing and some parts, but surely the inclusion of the 4K BR drive increased costs significantly.  And don't forget, when MS remove Kinect and reduced the price of the Xbox One by $100, they were initially losing money on each unit.  Have they seriously managed to cut manufacturing costs by another $100 per unit and included a 4K BR drive?  I doubt it.

Makes me think, we may not see the cheaper $299 One S model for some time.

One great reason would be FFXV taking advantage of NEO. So, 1080p steady 30fps with more draw distance, better lighting shading effects, textures, more geometry, and better AA,
