Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Reggie on NX: "For us it's not about specs"

Shared library, shared library, shared library, shared library, shared library... If power isn't an focus, fine, but push twice the content per console that you did this gen.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Great news! Nintendo shouldn't enter an arms race with Sony and Microsoft. Just turn out games at a decent pace, make a few strategic partnerships, and sell hardware at a low and attractive price point. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Nintendo doesn't need to move 80 million NX units. They just need to turn a profit.

Then hopefully, they have a plan and a price that will make it fly off the shelves. Cause if they price it $300 in 2017 and its around x1 specs, then esssh. They really need a way to attract people but idk wut that is since third parties are probably not gonna bother again.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

good for nintendo
bad for me

If they are gonna put all their teams to work in the same console instead of 2, as it seems they are gonna do, they can easily produce enough content to make the console attractive with the first party line up alone, once the console grows in sales third parties will want a piece of the cake.

Anyway, if the console is at least close to XBO, that would mean it can still get all the third party games, since third parties are not gonna be focused on Scorpio and Neo to not alienate the huge userbase with the standar models (at least that's what they say), so porting the game to a third console with such specs is not a big deal.

Oh Reggie...not saying the NX will be weak, but that just sounds like something Nintendo fans don't really want to hear.

Dear God...

Well I'd be surprised if it has better specs than the Neo and lord knows it won't match the Scorpio... Nintendo hasn't lead in specs among consoles since a brief stint with the snes, and never once in handheld; that's just not their thing.

Can somebody give this guy a medal or something? Not everybody has to compete with Sony and Microsoft. It'd be boring that way.

If Nintendo doesn't decide to go for expansive controller or an exotic architecture, with current tech I belive you can have better performance for less. I'm just looking at the new graphics cards AMD just announced, the RX460 will be in the 100-130$ range and it's already theorically more powerfull than a Ps4 (except the bandwidth).
