Good move. Why not take the good things about PC and bring it to consoles?

It's not impossibly difficult to hook your PC up to your tv, hell some people even have SFF (small form factor) PC's placed right next to their tv's. There are also K+M lap pads for sale at various stores as well as typical gamepad support for last gen and current gen gamepads as well as Steam controller. Then of course you have big picture mode on Steam to couch game from.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Yea, even if achieved with the mid-gen beefed-up update trick, it's still better than a shorter lifecycle, both plain and beefed-up versions will receive higher value in games libraries and longer support through their life.
