Yeah I'm not very excited this year either. In part it's due to Nintendo's smaller footprint, but it's also due to the rhythm of E3. There's so much bloat. In a perfect world each company would have 45-60 minutes for gameplay trailers, a few teasers, and some developer interviews. No empty promises. No pausing for reluctant applause. No executives stumbling through their talking points on stage.
Part of the reason I like the Digital Event/Treehouse is the focus on development and gameplay. I've grown weary of the pomp and circumstance at tradition E3 pressers.
Another reason I'm ambivalent is that it's hard to trust anything. I thought the Battlefront trailer stole the show last year. The game ended up being mediocre. Sony promised Horizon in 2016. It's now due in 2017. Microsoft advertised Fable Legends. Not only is that game canceled but its studio is closed.
