IBM architecture. All the consoles use it.

Last PC I built had AMD Barton 2500 and the new one as of a month ago has Intel Core 2 Duo E8400.

It has all the CPUs compared against each other in various benchmarks. Look at the Intel E8400.

 My current processor is third last! =/

Do you guys think the Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 is good enough?
Just keep in mind I'm not ready to spend too much on this processor.

Or maybe the E6300 with an FSB of 1066.

Here's a benchmark that matters. Same two processors Luinil was using, but the benchmark is Quake 4.

 I recently build a whole new pc, with ssj12's suggestions, for under $1000 with the E8400.

 How much were you trying to spend?

What are you trying to do? If gaming then a Graphics card is where you need to spend your money.
