Youtube channel, The Know, discusses a new study which reveals that most games announcements on E3 actually don't make it to stores on the same year(obviously?). To me the value of this data is very questionable as many titles are announced on E3 for the first time way ahead of release and quality assurance can result in massive delays. That said, in my opinion, there seems to be an overabundance of early annoncements that may really be done only to make a platform look better. Last year, for example, the director of one of the key platform exclusive annoucements didn't even knew he was attached to the project. Which begs the question if such game ideas are manufactured by a PR department trying to get big annoucemnts for their platform and not born from the vission of a passionate developer.

Regardless of the merits of such early announcements it still comes as a surprise that one of the companies that delivered its games, within a year of their E3 showing, was Electronic Arts. Is it shocking that they delivered on time or is it obvious because they may rush their games out? As for the company that is most full of questionable early annoucements in their E3 press conference that don't make it out within a year? Duh...

EA has launched 11 of the 12 games they showed last year, and Nintendo 13 of 14. Meanwhile, Sony has only launched 3 of the 14 games they had on their E3 show and Microsoft, 4 of 14.

That's something worth remembering when watching this year's E3.
