Yes, that is something I've been surprised by. I wonder if the deal Sony made with Activision required a certain amount of COD copies to be sold?

They have to have reached that number long ago.

I cant imagine that them staying with xbox they would have sold anywhere near that amount of copies of CoD.

Maybe Sony are just sucking up to them. See how many more copies of it sells when you stay with us? sorta thing.

Activision was very happy with their statement that more than 85-90% of all the PS4 sold in the USA were COD BO3 bundles.

Imo, Final Fantasy marketinh won't fo a shit for PS4, at least in USA.
Really, Metal Gear Solid V sold less than 800K in an intere month, and at least in the west Metal Gear is a bigger brand.

Final Fantasy won't do over 500K first NPD.

If Sony wanna win September, they should cut the price... Or hope the XBO S won't do much well.

If that actually happens, then the XB1 version will do really, really bad, to the point that it may actually sell below the minimum print order.

Yeah they care a lot more about hitting that 20m fiscal year target than losing a couple of NPDs. Considering that, however, 20m is quite a lofty goal, and so I would expect a price cut well before November (maybe October again) and the possible relatively quick release of the Neo.

The 20m is a sure fire indication that at least a slim and a price drop are coming. I'm not certain about Neo though, I got the distinct impression that Sony pulled a section from their conference in order to re-evalute their strategy in light of the possible launch of the Scorpio next year. The dev kits mean nothing really because any improvements using those specs would still be noticable and an upgrade would only affect the few games currently being upgraded with Neo mode. There's a question Sony will be considering: Do we release the Neo (as is) early and then release another more powerful console a year after the Scorpio or do we beef up the specs and release it alongside the Scorpio. I say alongside the Scorpio because even beefing it up now means MS could up the ante when the Scorpio finally releases. For me, I think it's best to release the Neo as is early and then offer another console a year after the Scorpio.

Nope, Andrew House said weeks before E3 that Neo wouldn't be shown at te show, it also isn't releasing this year so why would they show it so soon. The sooner they'll show it's March next year.

I wouldn't trust the rumored specs either, everyone in the industry expected the XOne to be more powerful than the PS4 until the very last moment.

Can you even preorder a console anywhere online other than Amazon? No surprise that it spiked, and the consoles are already stabilizing back to normal chart positions.

Sony already solved that puzzle, the Xbox one was more powerfull because originally the PS4 had 4GB ram they changed that to 8GB in one of the last moments possible. here is a nice quote

"Murakami stated that the PS4’s increase from 4GB to 8GB of RAM was approved during that line of questioning. He said that the Knack team were involved in those hardware discussions and asked for the RAM increase after learning that Sony was going to rest on 4GB. The company agreed, and that’s effectively why the console is the way it is today. It was quite a simple decision, it seems."
