Forums - PC - Paradox delete "All White" Stellaris Mod

Half baked journalism by Polygon. The mod wasn't removed because of it's content, the mod was removed because the author was promoting a political agenda and also hosting a link to an extremist Youtube channel which violates Paradox's TOS.

Ok that makes a lot more sense than removing a mod that didn't actually contain any content.

From what I understand Paradox removed the mod because of its description, not because it allows you to modify what race(s) you'll encounter in the game.

I'm not really one for Political correctness but I really don't think we need to forcefully inject that into our games let alone mods. The last thing gaming ever needs is someone who thinks it's dandy to start start tossing out races that were already in the games. I have no problem with the fact Overwatch features different people from all parts of the world, I;m sure someone out there is pissed at some of the female characters but honestly they just have to deal with that fact and stop trying to forcefully manipulate the game to their pc views.

I'm all for mods but I;m not all for trying to inject crap mods that start something as silly as this, it gets us absolutely nowhere and then we get the modder scooting away to start shit all over again.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Good decision but not enough. They should be prosecuted for racism. There is no excuse to create an "all white, all European" mod unless you're a racist. Literally I cannot come up with a single other reason why someone like this should exist.

Also LOL at people who are ok with this, "it's their lives they can do whatever they want" is as bad as saying I can make racist songs because it's my voice and my money that paid for the recording.

There's a pretty good excuse for it actually. It's more realistic.

The whole UN merges in to one country as humanity goes in to space idea isn't in the slightest realistic. It's much more likely that various countries (with China, the US and Russia being the most likely candidates) would do it by themselves. So I don't see why there's anything wrong with wanting to have people that look like and are named as if they are from a particular country.

That's the problem. Most of the European countries, even Russia have a large minority of non-white people with non-European names, it's not an accurate representation of Europe in space. If a country alone would go to space then that would be America, and it too is multicultural.

I think the issue is that the mod shows up on Steam's workshop and some people might unfairly associate the content of the mod with Paradox themselves.

Still, I don't really think it's a huge deal... They've been making DLC money for years by acknowledging and selling different race portraits and such, so it's not like they're averse to anything race-related. Excluding others when it's meant to represent all of humanity is rather weird, but I doubt many would have noticed it had it not been publicly taken down.

lol yes, prosecution! We don't police thoughts nearly enough yet.

I'm trying to think of when I'd want that mod, and I suppose it depends on whether the mod only altered the preexisting human race, or could be used for a custom race. If I'm trying to make Space Spartans, for instance, I'd like them to look Greek.

Yes you can, and nobody is stopping you.

All these -isms get thrown around a lot but they rarely actually apply to things. Am I a racist for excluding "interracial" in my porn searches? Should I be prosecuted for that because I'm discriminating against black porn actors? Am I homophobic because I don't like to watching men kiss? Am I mysogonistic because I support a Final Fantasy game that has only males in lead roles?

There is no punishment for thoughts because thinking is not a crime. And for actually actively discriminating people we already have laws.

As far as I'm concerned everyone can think and fantasize about anything he wants. And if he has also the power to turn thoughts into fictional media, more power to him. The moment we start punishing people not for their actions but for their thoughts we will be thrown back into the dark ages where atheism and homoerotics were punishable by death.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Just to clarify, they were originally OK with the mod until he edited the description to say "No Multiculturalism Here!" with an apparent youtube link and it was a visible mod on their product page lol, didn't want to be associated with that.

“We saw the mod, thought it wasn't in very good taste, but let it remain. Then the creator of the mod decided to update the description of the mod to promote an 'agenda' not related to computer games at all, and this was being clearly displayed on our product page,”

I somehow suspect whatever race that guy chooses will have the "Alien Xenophobe" trait.

*Edit* Just saw that the OP edited as well to reflect this.

Well to be fair that is one of the more enjoyable ways to play the game. Nothing like a good alien genocide

Hah I go with xenophile and migration treaties so that I can colonize inhospitable planets easier. I hear the next patch will finally make the colony rush a poor strategy though, which will be a welcome change as I feel compelled to do it.
