Forums - Microsoft - What's the point of the pricecut if retailers cant have consoles to sell ?

Hi

It's been 2 weeks since we have ordered xbox 360s at the new price and we still havent received one.  I was wondering if it was a problem only in our region or only with our wholesalers or maybe only in belgium but here comes this news on clubic :
http://www.clubic.com/actualite-130194-risque-penurie-xbox-360-199.html
it explains that french retailers have a lot of difficulties to restock x360s, a responsible of a "scoregames", second largest videogames chain in France, explains that they have a lot of troubles having arcade ones.

So of course, the sales in europe wont improve much if we cant have x360s in stock...

Bye.

ouch sorry to hear that but you just nailed it on the head....

they cut the price to get you to buy one then wait on it rather then provide one and hope you buy it

There is plenty around in Germany.

Man MS are a bunch of retards. Lowering the price in areas where it is sold out.....stupid.

Price cuts are a bad move if you have no consoles available.

It varies by country - in UK there doesn't seem to be any issues.

I don't know how MS supply - i.e. do they allocate a total amount of units for Europe then split it by country/region based on orders from retailers or do they allocate initial units per country? - but this smells like an allocation issue - i.e. they allocated the right amount for Europe but then didn't allocate it per country correctly, leaving some retailers/places with low/no stock and others with plenty.

Not good support of a major price cut IMHO and I wonder if this Nintendo guy joing in Europe is going to arrive late for the party with too little time to change 360 fortunes in Europe now.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

in holland you can find at least 5 xbox360's in every small shop which sells games. in bigger shops you can buy 100's of them.

so plenty xbox's available over here

Yeah Amazon.fr only has the Elite in stock now, and they won't get Value Packs until April 22nd. But you can still find the console if you look for it. But still, having no stock in some shops is not bad for sales.

BTW, scoregames has been bought by GAME and is now called scoreGAME or just GAME.

I don't think the consoles where sold out before the price cut.

Makes you wonder if the price cut was somehow not planned...

Maybe originally they where going to wait for GTA, but then decided to bump it up by a few months??
