Forums - Gaming - Do we need oversight for game reviews?

Seems weird to me how a low review for a game like Uncharted 4 can cause so much drama and talk about reviewers integrity yet the same people have no problem with perfect 10s.

No, I don't think there needs to be anything done. Find one reviewers you like and feel share your tastes if you must lean on reviewers. Don't worry about them either way.

Once you play a "bad" game and realize you liked it, you'll stop caring for reviews.

I remember all the hate critics gave pokemon black, saying the series is done for. When I realized it wasn't that bad of a game, I realized what critics say doesn't make a difference.

Critics are the ones who gave pokemon omega ruby, a game based on an island, 7.8 for TOO MUCH WATER.

Haha yes IGN... I remember! I used to EV train my pokemon....

I don't like competitive pokemon. If I want to play with EV and IV's considered, I'll use pokemon showdown.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

It was incredibly time-consuming and I didn't even get to use them much as I live in Ireland and there were never any events here. I don't play them anymore... gave all my pokemon to my brother.

Hopefully I don't get kicked out for linking it, but there you go. You don't need to train, all stats, IV's, and EV's are placed. I think you'll enjoy the website if you like serious pokemon battles. There's also random battles if you ever want to play a battle against someone, but don't have your 3ds on you.

Thank you! That is very thoughtful :)

Yep for a game that has as many boring and drawn  out sections as uncharted 4, 10 is just as crazy to me. It's definitely not a four though...

The highs in are very high, the game itself beautiful, but it has plenty of problems imo.

Everyone's bound to have an "outrageous" opinion. I don't mind having oversight, but you can't control what reviews have to say and why they decided on their respective scores. Heck I'm sure there's fans of Jimquisition who agreed with SF0 getting 2/10. To me, a 2 is a broken, unplayable, unfinished, unfulfilling game, which, in my opinion, is NOT what SF0 is. It's not a perfect game, but I honestly enjoyed what I played based off of beating the single player for the first time. But again, we all have our opinions. Heck some games may have "outrageously" better reviews than they deserve as well. That's freedom of speech for you I guess. I haven't played UC4, but i am not sure if a 4/10 is warranted unless the reviewer had certain points that led to that score.

He had, according to him the "Graphics are too detailed"

I didnt think a reviewer would beat the IGNs "Too Much Water" but this guy did, with honors.

The biggest problem is review outlets giving out 100% left, right and centre, You can spot stupidly low troll scores and accept them for what they and just ignore them but people tend to accept 100 scores as legit but not low 30-50 scores.

Such as metacritic should have a standard that sites have to use a out of 10 or out of 100 scoreline instead of all this sites giving scores out of 5 and some out of 4 leaving scores for most games at either 75, 80 or 100 all time time.

Any review outlet that gives out on average more than one perfect 100 score more than once a year are a joke, A perfect 10 is there for amazing games that stand out as potential game of the gens and we see some sites give out a 100 more than once a month.

A 4 is not so bad, if he was really hating on the game he could have given a 0, he gave mario maker a 5 so he's consistant.
