Call of Cthulhu screenshots

posted on 05.13.16 at 08:07 AM EDT by Sal Romano

Focus Home Interactive and Cynaide Studio have released two new screenshots of its upcoming Call of Cthulhu game.

The screenshots show the sinister docks and the manor of a deceased family, which players will have to explore during their investigation while Cthulhu, “the Great Dreamer,” prepares its awakening.

Here’s an overview, via Focus Home:

In Call of Cthulhu, players will control Edward Pierce, a former veteran and private investigator in 1920s Boston. Pierce will be investigating the tragic and mysterious death of Sarah Hawkins and her family in Darkwater Island. Today’s images give you a first glimpse of the locations players will have to visit: from the sinister docks, to the manor of the deceased family, Call of Cthulhu offers a dark and oppressive ambiance that shall pay tribute to Lovecraft’s work and universe. Indeed, this banal investigation might lead you to more sinister forces and darker secrets buried deep within Darkwater Island.

Call of Cthulhu is due out for consoles and PC in 2017.

Personal Note: I missed out on the Xbox version.  Do anyone know if it were any good?

Could be good but the we'll have to wait and see. The studios history basically has them making a lot of cycling sim games with a few decent gems like Styx and Blood Bowl along with what could be a nice Space Hulk: Deathwing.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

This would be an awesome an idea if From Software was developing the game.

Are you talking of the eerie aspect or making the game soul crushingly difficult?.

That would make you loose your sanity.  :D

But seriously, I can see From Software setting the correct mood for a Cthulhu game.

I wouldn't mind the eerie type setting but I really want to have a good time with a Cthulhu game and note one that is out to make me break the K+M/gamepad =P.

Eeehhh...I don't know...I would hate it if they just turned this into another Souls type game.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Well, depends on how it's done, Bloodborne has a lot of  H. P. Lovecraft influence and it turned out great.

Yeah...but that's different. That's a Souls game done in a dark, almost Lovecraftian style. This would  be an actual Lovecraft story. The player should feel powerless and there should be very few enemies. It should be very story focused and have honestly very little in the way of combat or action gameplay.

Actually, Keiichiro Toyama is who should be doing a Lovecraft game.

What's the full name of that styx game? Something to do with shadows
