Forums - PC - I need help with my PC!

So I finally got my 2 gigs of ram from ebay, so I shut down my computer and installed them. I had noticed that my PC was pretty hot so I let it cool down with the case off.

When I went to turn it on, the fan just blew like it normally does when it reboots but it kept on going as if it was still on reboot, I could see the ''processor light" go on for a few seconds then it stopped. So I decided to turn it off and leave it cool down once more and it did the same thing when I turned it on again. I let my PC on and the fan is still going strong it's been about 15 minutes now.

This has already happened before at least 5 times: it always happens when I either unplug my PC or the power goes out as if it thinks it overheated and runs the fan to cool it down. So i know the ram isn't the problem, I have looked in the owne's manuel and on the internet but I couldn't seem to find the answer to my question. You're help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Edit: My monitor can't read my PC, the light is orange which usually means the pc is off or in sleep.

Something is not connected properly. Is it making beeps or anything?

No the fan is just blowing really hard.

Try removing the RAMs and putting them in again. Also, try removing the heatsink of the processor, let it cool down, remove the processor, make sure no thermal paste touched the pins and put everything on again. Also, make sure the processor has enough thermal paste.

Alright I'll try that, tanks a lot.

Alright I removed the heatsink and the processor there was some dust around the processor and in the heatsink, cleaned that out, made sure there was no thermal paste on the pins and put it back together, it still does the same thing! :(

How much thermal paste am I supposed to have?

you don´t need much thermal paste... it gets squezed aside anyway... if you switched the RAM and it still won´t work I would reconnect all the major cables inside the computer... aside from that its kind of hard to tell from here... we know the mainboard is getting power which is good... do you have a spare graphics card you could put in ??? that would be the next thing I would do...

You are supposed to have enough so that the heatsink doesn't touches the heatspreader directly, because it would make short.

You said that happened before, when you unplugged your PC/power goes out. It sounds like the Power Supply is making ground with something in the PC and/or with the wall plug. Is it a cheapo supply? Try reconnecting everything or try replacing one component at a time.

I have an integrated card and a pci-e card I'll try to play around with the cables. And yeah I know it's pretty hard to help me, I still appreciate the help though.

Just btw, my computer gathers A LOT of dust, there is always dust and I have to wipe the vents on the case quite often, could the dust of caused this?
