I thought I'd expand on my thought earlier and give it its own thread because I'm starting to like this theory a lot.
So the basic idea is that past games on PS4 suffered performance issues and/or reduced resolution because developers like to show off. They want to present the best possible "next gen" graphics, so they're pumping this poor little APU full of all those neat graphical features that make the game slightly prettier but also run like shit.
Now with a beefed up PS4K developers have more power to work with and can use its hardware to show off their fancy graphics. Which means there is no need for them to torture the old PS4 with fancy lighting, shadows or AA because the promotional footage will all be done on PS4K. With that out of the way developers can focus on performance instead of visual fidelity.
That doesn't mean that PS4 games will look noticeably worse but just that it will look slightly less fancy.
While this is just a theory I really hope developers will go that route. Because I think people deserve performance over visuals given the choice.
