Forums - Gaming - Blizzard To Remove Tracer Pose From Overwatch Due To “Sex Symbol” Complaints

How is that inappropriate content for a pegi 16 game? Blizzard fell hard on my list...

We all seen art, it's everywhere, and thankfully it's up to people to like it or not, for example, i have the below statue in the middle of the city i live on, it's near the court house, if we would give in into these kind of people that wouldn't be in display. Sad how blizzard just caved into the smallest pressure.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

"I have a young daughter that everyday when I wake up wants to watch the recall trailer again. She knows who tracer is, and as she grows up, she can grow up alongside these characters."

That is probably the saddest quote I have ever read in my life.

That was also the first thought which came to my mind after reading the Posting of this guy. Reminds me of the Father who is modding Zelda-Games for his Daughter so that she can play as a "Unisex" Link. So he changed the Dialogues when someone is referring to Link as"Him/His". Of course that won't change the fact that Link still remains a guy. Actually he have to change the whole Model of Link to a more Unisex Figure. Anyway, we know this is absurd and this man have too much time to spare. Instead of modding Zelda Games, he should teach his daughter the correct stuff she got to deal with in life. And the same goes to the Father who is complaining about Overwatch. His Daughter is most likely too young to even play the Game. I guess the Game will get a Teen-Rating and he is reffering to his daughter as "Very Young", so I don't think she is older than, most likely 10?

Well, in a world so rotten as ours, it's sad to see the voice of a single person have such an impact Blizzard is actually caring about his opinion. I'm a girl myself, and the only thing I feel right now is sadness for the people who are complaining about over-sexualization in Videogames. And I feel sad for Blizzard too, because they most likely fear a backlash by our modern society.

Be aware: English is not my native language. The Internetz is the only place I'm partly speaking this smooth language. And because my Signature is so boring, feel free to insert a lame Boob-Joke here: [Insert lame Boob-Joke here]

Warning: Nintendo and Übel Blatt Fangirl alert

Oh Jesus Tapdancing Christ...Really? I feel I am taking no leap here, but I assume most people didn't mind, and a very small group of vocal idiots had this removed. And it's optional. Way to go Blizzard. I hope Ginny puts a blindfold over her son's eyes every time she takes him out in his custom built stroller for 8 year olds, because I see women dressed in ass hugging spandex almost every time I step out into the world.

Ginny's the mother who wrote in defense of the pose.  Not the moron who wrote complaining about it.

We're regressing to the 50s. Soon bikinis on beaches will be banned and any sexual depiction of females will be labled porn and forbidden for anyone under 21.

I'm going to retire for the day. Thanks for pointing that out.

It's all good :)  I don't think the OP actually includes the name of the person who wrote in.  Ginny divulged hers though, and a shitload of personal info no less, I think, to really highlight the kinds of people who are bothered by this. :)

It's not about people complaining, though. Being hysterical that the whiners are getting their way is silly, because that isn't actually the situation here.

Much more likely, it's Blizzard having a look at its characters, and deciding that this character shouldn't be sexualised. And that's perfectly fine. The arse picture spectacularly misses the point. Seeing as Overwatch does have somewhat sexualised characters, this isn't showing that Blizzard is deadly afraid of upsetting anyone. It's that some characters shouldn't be sexualised.

Blizzard is clearly trying to have characters that fit everyone's taste, and their statement makes that rather clear.

"We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community."

That means having female characters that aren't sexualised. It also means having some female characters who are sexualised, and those are there in Overwatch. Just as in the real world, some of the women are somewhat sexualised, while others are not.

I thought it was sad that this person couldn't try and find a real role model for their daughter to follow instead of some stupid video game character.
