Forums - Sony - The dream? PS4 Slim plus PS VR this October?

AMD is going 14nm FinFET in Q2 for GPUs, question is if millions of 14nm PS4 APUs can be ready by Q4 holiday season.

I think Sony might introduce it in E3 or Gamescom 2017 and only lower the price to $299 this year. PS4 is still selling well. I expect the PS4 Slim with a $199 price tag, in the size of a 300 page book, thing is going to be really small if they also make the PSU external like the first PS2 slims.

don't expect low-margin console chips to use 14/16nm all that soon - the production capabilities are very limited and tons of high-margin chips (smartphone socs, high end gpu, intel cpus) want to use it and are filling up those capabilities

The PS4 right now is just too sexy I wont mind if they don't come out with a slim. (or at least for a long time) But they should try making more/cool changable faceplates.

Most of you seem to be expecting the Slim in 2017 which is 4 years after launch. If this is true, then the PS4 will likely peak in 2017 which is a pretty late peak. This means that this gen will be going on for a long time. If 4th year peak then this gen will be in the middle of 6th and 7th gen in terms of length. While the NX will likely launch this year so if anything this gen will be a weird one.
