For me, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is the closest I've played to a perfect RPG. I can't think of any downside to the game that mattered to me, the characters, story, gameplay, and soundtrack all perfectly resonated.
I can think of other games that excelled in their genres, but I always find a few flaws here and there that keep them from that level of perfection.
