Forums - Gaming - The launch of Street Fighter V should have been a major event!

There has been an inescapable backlash towards Street Fighter V since its launch about two weeks ago now and although I bought the game and am enjoying it immensely (despite content issues) I can't help but feel the whole launch was a wasted opportunity.

I bought the disk version so I could get the Ryu costume and the GameStop manager said a few weeks before that it would have a steelbook.... I love that sort of thing. Then launch day came and I collected the game, first thing I noticed was there was no poster or advertising for the game anywhere in the store and certainly not the front window. Then I noticed the game was in a normal plastic case and on top of this the code for Ryu's costume was on the receipt stub.....

I only play very late at night so when I eventually opened the case I was again disappointed to find just the disk and one slip of paper with warnings on it, not even a black and white manual.... All of this for 75 euro.

I feel it has really been a huge wasted opportunity for both Sony and capcom, remembering back to the SF2 anniversary edition for the PS2, it came packed with various versions of the game and the animated movie (cheesy as hell but I loved it).

To really sell a game like this, I feel it needs to be a major event. The game should have had a steelbook, soundtrack (as the music is awesome) and digital versions of SF2 and IV with the movie too. Maybe a small art book too. This would have negated to some extent the negative reviews and backlash about content and cost very little as they own the rights to the movie between them and digital codes costs are negligible.

Tell me me what you think of the launch and how you think they could have made it better!
