Forums - Gaming - Dying Light: More DLC On The Way In 2016

Dying Light's just-released The Following expansion won't be the only new piece of content coming to the multimillion-selling zombie game this year. Developer Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka penned an open letter to fans today, thanking them for their support and teasing the new, unannounced content.

"We are humbled by the immensely positive reception of the enhanced version of our game," Marchewka said, referencing the recently released Dying Light Enhanced Edition. "We always had faith in the project, but seeing so many enthusiastic opinions among players and high review scores from the press is utterly heart-warming.

"At the same time it is a clear sign that there is still high demand for that unique Dying Light experience. To make sure that every new or veteran player gets all the fun they deserve, we have decided to continue our support for Dying Light at least till the end of this year. We are already working on new unannounced content, so stay tuned for our future news."

He didn't provide any further details on this content. We'll bring you more news as it's announced.

Machewka went on to say that he encourages Dying Light fans to send in their feedback about where they would like to see the series go next. "We strongly believe in active collaboration between our design team and you, players who every day fight for survival in the world of Dying Light," he said.

In August 2015, Dying Light producer Tymon Smektala revealed that the game had sold 5 million copies, becoming a "tremendous success." He also teased that Techland has ideas for a sequel.

"We have lots of very ambitious ideas so first we need to check if these ideas are even doable with the tech that the current consoles provide," Smektala said. "We also need to check if our concepts are really as good as we think they are, so we need to prototype things."

While I like the IP a lot and the expansion, I feel that TL isn't going to entirely listen to what the fans have to say about the game. A prime example would be over at the Steam forums for DL with fans asking for them to simply patch in an option to remove the Chromatic Aberration effect as it induces headaches and nausea for some and for people like me who can't see very far within the game's world due to the blurring and tinged effect.

That said, I still enjoy the game (when CA is modded out but lack of being able to play co-op/VS modes, sigh) but a lot of the time it feels more and more like cba syndrome where you have to do every single quest akin to a fetch or kill X amount quests than simply solving more puzzles and talking your way out of situations. The addition of more guns is definitely nice though.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
