Forums - Gaming - FIG: (pyschonauts 2 funding) shady investment?

Aparently investing in pyschonauts trough FIG investiment is a business practice of ofloading a HUGE risk to consumers in a way that could be called shady at best.

We all know crowdfunding was a way to offload part of  the publishing/development risk to consumers before completing the game.

But as the video explain, the FIG investiment create a new risk for the "investors" because produces a setup where no sane investor would ever invest unless they didn't had knowledge of investiment risk or assumed was safe withouth checking it out, perhaps by believing on our "very troughral" gaming media.

Very interesting video:

Around the Network

Well yeah, there's a reason Schaeffer and his cronies started Fig. Kickstarter actually has at least some level of consumer protection.

Schafer has proven time and again he's terrible with a budget, and yet people keep throwing money at him. There's a reason publishers don't touch him anymore and it's not simply because niche games or anything. His ideas are good (not my cup of tea) but he's a horrible businessman. I mean this is a guy who wants to do Brutal Legend II next for God's sake.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

I dont trust Schafer anymore. If he want me to buy is game, i got to see it first and see if it worth my money.
