With such a tax those companies would make even more money by increasing the price on DLC and blaming it on the tax. As if the average gamer could calculate what 45% of something is.

nope because if DLC was more expensive consumers would not buy it then companies like EA will change their tune!

Yeah right. Do you even know who buys DLC? It's people who are especially invested in a certain game. Do you think those people care if the $10 DLC now costs $15? Nope.

All im saying is if there was a 45% tax on the season pass for a game like destiny for instance, no one would pay 160+ dollars at launch (200+ dollars for our neighbors in the north). Companies would be forced to lower the price and omit dlc gamers win!

You're overestimatimng the ability of the average consumer to count. Also I'd buy certain games for $200 at launch even without DLC. Complaining about the prices of games or DLC is ultimately pointless. If I want to play something I buy it.

And again, DLC is bought only by the most dedicated players. Of course people would be outraged by the price, but those are the people who wouldn't have bought it anyway.

Youre a rare exception. Video games are an price elastic good. When the price of the base game goes up, sales and overal profits go down. For this reason devs dont raise the price of the base game they would rather omit part of the game and sell it as dlc. Its an anti-consumer practice and people need to stop sticking up for them! Its disgusting what they are doing!

It's disgusting to anyone who cares. Seems like not enough people care enough. Democracy wins again!

If I'm a rare exception where do the people come from that buy all the DLC and collector's editions to make this even a thing?

No. Who's making ridiculous jokes now? I don't remember discussing a tax on dlc ever. Let alone a ridiculous one like that. Please.

I have had another post in the thread. Why not try reading that? Or what others have written? The OP has generated discussion, despite many here simply thinking it's purely a joke.

Wait, what?  You quote my post, which was clearly directed toward the OP, and say that he had a point.  I discuss what the OP said because that's what your reply talked about, and now you're asking me why I didn't address your other post which actually came after my initial post?

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

If you don't want to talk about what the OP said then don't bring it up.  If you want to talk about what you said in a separate post then you can damn sure repeat or quote what you said when you reply to me.  I'm not going to go, "hm, maybe he had another post, I should check the thread before I reply and talk about that, even though it had nothing to do with mine."  I'm not going to do your work for you.

Holy cats.

"Yeah, look, it's not very amusing or interesting. Lame joke threads are just spam."

The text is there for all to see and it says nothing of the sort. You discussed the joke section of his post, not the meaning behind it. A point I made already. We could go back and forth non stop but it's pointless. Also, generally replying to my and others, something else I already said which again was left out of your last reply, is generally what these forums are for, no? Of course my other post had nothing to do with yours. It was on topic. Holy cats indeed.

We've clearly derailed this thread, I did initiate though so I apologize.

No, there shouldn't be. Companies would just push costs onto the consumer. A better way to convince companies not to do DLC is to NOT BUY THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE! SAME WITH MICROTRANSACTIONS!!!!

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Now I feel bad for taking you're other thread so seriously. I'm sure certain companies, like Capcom, deserve it but I think the DLC situation has got better recently. Season passes are an improvement over online passes and even Halo now releases map packs for free. Then again, I do hate all the micro transactions.

PS: LipeJJ, you signature creeps me out
