Because multi device development for Vita/ Ps4 is something which SCEJ is pushing from its partners. Expanding the userbase is different from the current base not being viable, because sales indicate it has done well for the type of game it is.

VN's aren't really my jam but I know they are for two of my weeb mates, one of whom will likely be expecting a port of ZE sometime in the future. PC has had VN's for a long time but it is nice to see more coming over in general even if they aren't my thing.
