In my opinion, yes reason being on how much it can make off of other HMD headset's out there providing another option for HMD headset's to include or attach. And of course bolster playstation VR Products functionality.

VR..they did it for the VR..and gaming..and well Money, but mostly for the Money..and Gaming.

It's a bit like how SOny makes the camera sensors that go into iPhones. The more iPhone succeeeds the more revenue Sony makes for its camera division, and probably with better margin that the losses Sony makes on selling it's own phones.

Exactly, this depth sense camera can be clipped on pretty much any HMD even Mobile Smartphone HMD's. Combined with the ability of hand tracking within the it would offer other such functionality added like AR. Also
